The chromecast dongle was available to purchase the day it was announced earlier this year. Same again with the N5?
Unless he's in the UK where you still cannot buy it from Google. Seems UK being ditched by Google lol, still no Nexus orb either. Maybe won't even get the phone this time.

Samsung Kies to the S4 is like Google Nexus devices too.....?

How do you back up, restore, update etc Nexus devices?

How would I go about restoring contacts from my S2 too a Nx5 for example?

People actually use Kies!?

You don't need to restore your contact to anything, just save them to google from your phone and they'll automatically load onto the new phone when you log into your google account on that phone.

Are your contact on Google, if not I would just back up all contacts to Google and then when you sign in, it just downloads them. Backing up apps is not great on Android as it doesn't offer data backup, unless you use a third party app. I do however recommend buying titanium back up, best money I have ever spent on an app, its crazy fast to backup/restore and it always just works. It does need root access to be really useful but its a small price to pay.

I'll be interested in snapping one of these up if the Google store release isn't such a farce as last year. Ended up paying over the odds at Carphone Warehouse due to the 6-8 week wait Google thought would be acceptable.

In the meantime however still more than happy carry on with the N4, probably the best phone I've owned overall, overlooking the camera obviously.

According to this, phone could come in a 16GB model with a 2,300mAh battery and a 32GB model which will come with a larger 3,000mAh battery.

Sounds good. But do you reckon the 3,000mAh battery will make the phone fatter?

That was posted a few pages back, I still don't think there's any chance of that happening.
It's a massive change to include under the same version if that makes sense, as you say there would have to be some increase in size to fit a much larger capacity battery and it doesn't make any sense to just not put it in both sizes.

I'm guessing this handset will come with LTE?

With LTE, od you need a sim that supports it? I presume these handsets will need nano sim's or micros... my current sim is aa regular one.

I thinking of going with a sim only package from 3, as you get 4G for free when it launches... but Im wondering if you need the sim that supports 4G?
