as mentioned before, this phone is not worth getting on contract, you wont see the saving it will be priced in the same band as a S4 / HTC One. you a better off buying outright if the suspected pricing is true. If you cant afford to do that then get a interest free credit card deal.. and a SIM on contract.

Is it a worthy upgrade from a Nexus 4. I'm really happy with mine at the moment, not sure what I'd gain from going up to am N5 - the phone does look great but I think I might hold off for the next Google handset either the N4 2 or the N5 2.

That's my thinking too. I upgraded from my Orange San Fran because it was slow and my LG Optimus 2X because the support was **** but I see no reason to upgrade from this phone because it does everything I want and it'll get KitKat.

This or a note 3?

All down to preference. My girlfriend has the Note 3, and I have the N4. I still wouldn't have the Note 3 (as nice as it is) over the N4 purely down to the software and the size. Which is also the reason I'm going to hold out for this phone and not take the upgrade that I am now due.

Have to add that I don't like off screen buttons like on the Samsung phones, I'd rather have pie controls.

If your N4 is in good condition you can get £200 on ebay. For me personally its a decent upgrade, every internal aspect is better, better screen, camera (how much is what I am really wondering), better battery, LTE. It is a decent all around upgrade.

If this handset was coming from Samsung or HTC it would be around £400.

What advantages does Samsung and HTC devices have to warrant a more expensive price?

Their flagship devices are better and dont forget Google doesn't make any profit from the Nexus line up, if anything they offer them at a loss as they subsidice the manufacturer.

Dont forget also, that the Nexus doesn't sell in the same quants as LG, Samsung and HTC devices do....so the £400 price tag you mentioned is about right if it was sold without Google taking the hit.

I think the Nexus 4 is a better looking phone and pretty well built.

Will be interesting to see the if the 5 is as well built.

Whether I get it depends on the camera and size of the phone though.

Fair point, but for me the phone does everything I need it to do and does it very well, it's not slow, it gets all the latest updates, and has never skipped a beat in all honesty, it seems like a pointless upgrade for me.

Shh! That's dangerous talk. The whole industry is based on pointless upgrades. ;)

I also feel the N4 looks better, but its also easier to damage and I wouldn't mind a plastic phone if its nice soft touch plastic.

I also agree its an awesome phone, and if you don't need anything new then there really isn't any reasons to upgrade. And having a long update cycle on it should be really good, I expect the N4 to keep going for another 2 years.

Not exactly pointless for some. the camera for me is less than desired at time and its the same for the battery life. 16GB is just too small and I have LTE contract now so it will be a nice upgrade too. The screen is a bit meh too on the N4 and the price for a new phone isn't too outrages, moreover when compared too what you gain for me. If it costed £500 I wouldn't really upgrade too it.

[SARCASM]Yes i like to have buttons taking up screen real estate so that the ugly bezel at the bottom can serve no purpose at all too[/SARCASM]

I would have course be all for it were they able to reduce the bezel significantly, feel like my nexus4 has a tiny screen so would love to move to a note3 personally but will have to wait for my uprade.
