In the 12 years I've had mobile phones I've just never locked it.

Anyway, that's by the by. It's just that rooting a Nexus wipes it - unlike a Samsung phone - so I just want to check if it is worth doing.

Yeah no pin or lock for me maybe I will regret it one day!

If you ever lose your phone first thing is to change your Google password.

I would use a pin unlock if it worked like apples. IE you type the 4 digits and unlocks instantly.

Big upgrade I'd say, screen is lovely compared to the S2 one as far as pixel density goes! Better battery life - I'm not sure though someone else probably knows! Only bonus with s2 is the removable battery!

Rooting isn't the part that needs to wipe the phone, that's unlocking the bootloader which you can do and then never bother to root.
So I'd recommend unlocking the bootloader as soon as you get it then if you do decide the root down the line there's no need to wipe it.

According to certain websites the Red version as you stated will go on sale this Tues and will be available on the Play store. You can assume that Google will sell it universally across the world unlike GPe devices.

I had both the N5 and G2 for a while...and the N5 runs circles around the G2 speedwise. The only things the G2 has over the N5 is a superior battery life and better audio playback through headphones.

I'd take the N5 over the G2 any day...
