*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

According to certain websites the Red version as you stated will go on sale this Tues and will be available on the Play store. You can assume that Google will sell it universally across the world unlike GPe devices.

So its not going to be a Sprint exclusive or something then? Cool.

I'd like a blue one, so I hope its not just red.

I went from a GS2, the nexus runs rings round it (as it should)
I used my old phone today as my mom now uses it and I had to help her do some updates. Man it felt well slow :D

Buy it, use it for a week and you will forget you ever owned another phone :)

Today I slapped on an AOSP KK ROM on my old S2 and it made a marked improvement to performance...not to mention the infinitely better aesthetics.

The GS2 just keeps on living!

Got my old S2 back from my nephew as he's got his upgrade. Still running strong after nearly 3 years.

Mazuma is offering £45, however I have just slapped on a 4.4.2 AOSP KK ROM and it's running so well that it's staying with me.

Here's the ROM link - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2603169

AOSP KK + Some extra tweaks and settings + lower DPI to boot. The difference between the stock Sammy ROM and this is mind blowing in terms of aesthetics, the TW ROM is utterly FUGLY!

Might put that on my moms then cheers. I think Jelly Bean slowed mine down and made it feel clunky.
I wasn't knocking the GS2 by the way. Very well built phone and I loved using it.
Like you said it refuses to die :)

Agreed, I don't think anyone can knock the S2 for how good it is for its age.

The AOSP ROM refreshes it no end. Good luck.

No one is saying it's news, just that many people don't realise how much difference a custom rom can make.

I've decided Android is all about the software now. So from here on out I'm looking pretty much exclusively at Nexus and GPE devices.

I'm pretty sure most phones only feel 'old' because they are abandoned in terms of software updates by the vendors so quickly. Imagine if every phone got the latest version of Android for 3 years after launch?

I agree with you.

Do you know what Nexus devices have been dropped form Kit Kat support just out of interest?
