*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

Really? Most people seem to be getting not much more than 4 hours screen time to a charge?

I don't think mines faulty, I think it's just bad by design. I'm going for some aggressive battery saving tactics first though.

I'm genuinely considering sending this back. 4 hours screen time before the battery is dead is just not acceptable for a sealed phone where battery life is only going to reduce over time.

4 hours screen on time is not enough from a 'normal' sized phone!?!? Wow. High expectations.

Exactly. 4 hours is reasonable. It's not a design flaw, it's a physical limitation of a battery. Most 'normal' sized phones are similar to this. Most people would be quite proud of 4 hours screen on time.

My Sensation was at the end of it's second battery and still outlasted the brand new N5 by miles. If my N5 can't last a day now, what's it going to be like in 18 months time when I can't swap the battery out?

The N5 is brilliant, but its of little use to me if its dead in my pocket by the end if the day. My GF is picking me up from the station at the moment and I keep having to phone her on my work mobile to let her know when I will be in as my N5 is dead.

Hopefully my battery saving plans save it. I've got Lux for a more aggressive auto screen brightness profile, disabled wifi scanning, replaced the live wallpaper with a static version, switched to ART and set some location profiles to control wifi being on or off. If I'm able to post back in here on my way home tonight then it will have worked :)

Ah I misunderstood about screen time / phone being on. Beg your pardon.

I'll give it a test today and see how mine fairs being "on" constantly.

4 hours is a pretty standard "screen on" time for pretty much every phone going until you move up to something Note sized or the G2 with it's stepped battery.

How long are you getting with all that, it that doesn't last you a day and you have good signal then I would say it has some sort of fault.

Are you on Wi-Fi?

Yes :)

With GPS and all location services on and lots of push notifications.

Just trying to see if my phone suffers as badly as Skeeter's.

I get a decent full day's use with modest use and everything turned on. I am around WiFi all the time, but I'll do a similar test with WiFI turned off tomorrow.

i have to charge my phone once every day and half under normal use. If am on a train and gaming/video or heavy use i need to bring my usb battery pack. I wish all phones had removable battery, be cool to carry a spare as my mate does for his S4

Being on Wi-Fi does make a massive difference to your battery life, I get similar to you if I'm at home all day on Wi-Fi but closer to 4 hours screen time if I'm out and about or at work without Wi-Fi

So far for me:
4 hours 12 mins on time
1 hour 41 mins screen time
51℅ battery left
Been playing games lots of web browsing and messaging.
WiFi scanning is on but been using mobile internet for all of my internet need's.
Location services on and notifications on.
Screen is set to auto brightness

Thanks to who reviewed the little wireless charging pucks bought three and they are all working perfectly, nice sleek small design and cheap!

As said even though it seems lazy it really is quite nice not to have to plug unplug the device when needed, works nicely with my nexus 7 too.

Haha! Agreed. as long your happy stoosh!

I use Lux Dash, nice and very customisable. It's takes a bit of learning, watch a youtube tutorial if need be.

Think it looks pretty awsm, and it unique. Let me see what colour combo I well go for now :p.

Cheers Fellas, I appreciate your kind words.

@Fallengod Slickwraps have released some new skins, check it out...They've made it even more difficult for you to chose a colour combo. ;)

Finally after RMA'ing the Red Nexus 5 on the 6th Feb and numerous emails to Google the returns bag arrived. Back to Google it went.

It's extremely shoddy that I had to wait near enough two weeks just for a returns bag and I'm still £340 down.

As much as I like Android, it's extremely poor how Google operate. I'll think twice before ordering something from the Play store again.
