*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

Just picked one of these up in black, annoyingly Carphone warehouse didnt have Red but, as I am getting a case anyway I'm not too bothered.

Which leads me on to:

What is the best case for the nexus 5?
 
why type of case do you want?

I had a look at a load of reviews on YouTube before choosing, they were really useful.
 
Wife has had her phone stolen.

Told her to phone police and give them the IMEI number and speak to them, etc.

Thief has turned the phone off - so cerberus is useless atm she should have told me before ringing the phone several times.

Phone is not insured and unlocked, etc.

Hopefully they don't reset the phone and just swap the sim out. Hopefully it ends up like the last time it happened on here from the epic thread and we get it back and scum gets sent to jail.


Dropbox is set to auto upload so if they take any pictures we should get them.

Anything else we should do or change certain passwords, going to get her to change gmail ASAP.

I have a fair few cases, always do when I get new phones. I have the Spigen ultra slim fit cases which are nice, red marks easy as it has a soft touch, black also has soft touch but you can't see marks obviously, champagne version of the same case is not soft touch.

I also have the red slim armour which is very nicely made but does add a fair amount of bulk to the phone. The nilkin flip case is fairly nice but by far the best and one I'm currently using is the official flip case, it fits so well and adds barely any bulk to the phone at all.
 
I almost went for the official one too, but balked at the price.

I prefer bumper cases so ended up going for the Ringke fusion.

The spigen cases get good reviews however.

Sorry to hear the bad news.
I had my Note 3 stolen a few weeks ago and it was an awful feeling.
Was it rooted with a flashed version of cerberus or just a regular install which I don't think survives a reset.

regular version but hidden

my phone is rooted though so I have the flashed disguised version.

if they reset it - it's gone, i should have also installed app lock on her phone and locked dropbox, settings, emails, etc with a lock code, so a thief could use the phone but not change reset it or access anything important.

i have applock on my phone but the wife always complains when i do things to her phone, in the past i have always rooted her phone too, will do so from now on in future.

Of course thats if a £270 and below deal is on offer. at £300 on the play store I might as well get a 32gb.

That sucks. Resetting Dropbox and Google passwords which I am sure you have done will block most access then its just pics and texts. Tbh they just get wiped and sold abroad.

I have that. Very happy with it so far. It's very light and doesn't feel like it adds much bulk to the phone at all, which was my number one concern.

Obviously it won't protect the phone from drops or anything as well as a full, larger case would, but I wanted it just to stop the back of the phone getting scratched in general use, which it does perfectly!
 
I have an issue with the whole SMS/hangouts thing. It seems to pull in contacts from my Google plus which I don't really want at all. For example If I want to send a text to my mum, I start typing in M U and then loads of random foreign people show up as 'suggested from Google plus' or something?

Any ideas?

Yes bugs me, not sure how to turn it off,,,
 
Its literally just suggesting complete random people that I don't even have on Google plus. Do people use the hangouts app for texting or sack it off for a different app?
