*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

Yeah tell me about it, I've sent a request to the seller on Amazon to send the phone back altogether for a refund as I cannot be bothered with all palava right now. Not only that, but going by the seller's very recent feedback (within the last couple of days) - a lot of people seem to be having problems with Nexus devices that have been purchased from them at the moment. I also suspect that my Nexus is not a UK spec model as well, as as it includes an EU wall charger (this may explain why LG failed to recognize the IMEI number!) Once the refund gets authorized I will be ordering another one via Google Play after reading the positive support reviews on them :)

Raise it through ebay rather than msg him mate. Sounds dodgy. Maybe returns or defects.

Anyone have a fool-proof guide for removing a root? I use the Purity ROM and really love it but it comes pre-rooted which my bank and Sky Go doesn't like. I followed a guide which said to remove all references to Busybox from /System/Xbin (IIRC) and then run the SuperSU un-root process, and although my BOS banking app now works Sky Go still complains about a rooted device.

I would rather have Purity ROM and no Sky Go vs stock Android and Sky Go but it shouldn't be too hard to get the best of both worlds.

Give this a go mate:

I used this when I had to downgrade the radio on my 5 earlier on, it worked a treat.

It was purchased through Amazon, but if I have to go down the dispute route then I have no doubts that Amazon will be able to sort it out in no time.

If it came with an EU wall charger rather than a 3 pin UK one then it is almost certainly not a UK spec model, and personally I wouldn't waste any more time on it, but insist on a full refund.

This is not the first time that buyers have experienced problems with mobile phones purchased from Amazon Marketplace sellers, and a feel is a route best avoided if possible.

Good Luck! :)

yeah that sucks, MM on here is a good option if you are lucky enough to find the phone you want, ebay and amazon and gumtree is just to much of a gamble, so many people claim off insurance a few months later and your screwed

Hi _Jimlad_ :)

I don't tend to run many apps really. I also find that the phone will run quite warm when it's at its laggiest.

That means that the processor is under high load. Have a look at running processes. Might even be mm qcamera daemon. Hows the battery when this happens?
Under normal conditions the N5 really shouldn't be laggy at all.

Can anyone help with this please?

Here is my Nexus 7 on lock screen with Poweramp, which I can use absolutely fine.

Now here's my Nexus 5 trying to do the same thing, however the keyboard automatically appears, blocking the app...

When I close the keyboard using the button at the bottom, it just goes to the normal lock screen, like so...

Is there a way to stop this so I can actually use it without having to unlock every single time? :(

It's definitely going back, though I've still not heard back about the request yet from the seller on Amazon (no surprise). Yeah I can imagine that this sort of thing happens a lot and it surprises me in a way that sellers like this can still be allowed to trade on there! It's definitely put me off ever purchasing a phone off an Amazon seller ever again (with the exception of Amazon themselves).

MarcLister - I noticed that my N5 runs very warm as well when pushing it through it's paces i.e. games & heavy web browsing, and sometimes even when scrolling through the menus! It's probably the first smartphone I've owned so far that does give off a tremendous amount of heat - especially when compared to my old S4 which didn't give off very much heat at all. It's a known fact with these phones though and the fact that it's running probably the best mobile quad core CPU just goes to show.

yeah sounds dodgy, could be faulty or blocked stock and then traded outside of the country it is blocked or found faulty in.

get in touch with Amazon. my father in law had a simiair issue with a fake Galaxy S3, in the end he got a refund and kept the fake phone

Happened to me also: I get sent an American model. Luckily Amazon fulfilled this item so they covered the return, which was painless.

I'd always recommend getting it from Amazon themselves or Google.

Tried the .15 modem? Seemed better than the .17 for me!

Where would I find these radios to try them out to hopefully improve what seems to be a problem with the strength of the signal.....?

Also is it difficult to flash them and any special precautions to take, apart from the usual care when doing stuff like this...?

Thanks

EDIT: Found......

...not found build 15 though.

Guess you need to be rooted to try these ?

I have the circular / sloped wireless charger as, from what I have read, seems to offer the highest rate when charging - when coupled with a decent 2amp supply.
Mine came from China.
