*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

As JL said, I will have that problem, personally it doesn't bother me too much but this signal strength is really letting the device down for me atm, I hope the 3 network is better, don't want to rely on an update that might not be out for another 2 months and possibly not even fix/improve it.....

Battery results from yesterday, cba waiting for it too drop any more so could have probably got another 20/30m on screen time, seems like the graph doesn't show correct usage as chrome and camera should be at the top:

Considering the poor signal, not bad!

Weak strength, dropouts and if it drops out, sometimes it won't come back until device is rebooted.

All software/baseband related.

Thankfully I haven't had the last 2 problems listed there *touch wood*

edit:

I have yet to see full bars on my n5, lucky if I even get 3.

Mine was returned to LG with that issue. I had also sent their repair company (SKE) a stack of photos showing the N5 next to my Motorola Razr i phone. Both had a GiffGaff sim in and I used an app / widget from the market to show the signal strength (in dB) for each phone.

The Razr i constantly showed to be more capable than the N5 in getting an average or good signal, and the photos proved that.

Eventually (three weeks) it came back from LG no different, having had a "software reset".

The Razr is running JB and the N5 KK. I am hopeful that the next release of KK will improve the situation but, for now, I have changed the phone to use 2G and I'll see how that goes.

I can't root either as I need the Barclays apps ... A lot more than most people as well.

My GF has the same reasoning, I kind want too use the app too, it just there are still a few things in Android that drive me crazy, mostly just UI elements, and proper back ups, if they fixed that I wouldn't root my device.

Well I work for Barclays (Barclaycard) as a ecom consultant. I have a few internal apps as well an expense and email app. All require stock. I do have a work phone which is a BlackBerry but as you can imagine its easier on the nexus. I also bank with them and use sky go with 4g.

Can't justify rooting at the min. Work ordered us some ipads which come next month. So I could look at root again then.

For me it would be just for adblock and to flash the older baseband for better signal. However I hope the later will be addresses and fixed in 443

Saves a lot of time using banking apps

Agreed. Back when android didn't have banking apps I used to think why we didn't use a website but now the app is more convenient, secure, quicker to load, can be used as a pin sentry device and of course easily see your balance when just walking down the street.

You don't need to root to flash an older modem, you just need to unlock your bootloader, a very simple process. I flashed the .17 modem back on but didnt find it any difference, so flash the .15 modem on and that seems pretty good, not rooted here and using Barclays app fine.

Will give the new one a shot once 443 arrives
