*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

Just finished having a play with my nexus 5 and got it all set up now! Liking it a lot so far.

Won't go into the screen area too much again but it looks great imo, only time the screen goes white/washed out is when viewing from diagonal angles, bit annoying but not something I am going to lose sleep over :p Compared to my nexus 7 2013 screen, it is a tiny bit less saturated but unless side by side, you wouldn't notice.

Love the design and feel of the device.

So good not having any bloat/crap and gimmicky features unlike some puke worthy skins.....

As expected super fast and smooth throughout, no lags/slow downs like you get with samsung galaxy devices

Not tested the camera out much but it seems good so far....

Speaker is fine, not the best and not the worse, just annoying the placement, constantly putting my little finger over it

Loving NFC, works quickly and really well.

Main things I am missing so far:

- SAMOLED screen and its true blacks and this app!

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.greatbytes.activenotifications&hl=en

NLED is just so crap in comparison. Tempted to reinstall the app and just put up with the extra battery drain.....

- lack of control/features for the camera i.e. no slow motion recording, no tap to take a photo when recording video and most of all no 16.9 option (should be added in an update this though, here is hoping they up it to 6MP and not 2MP like before.....)

Will do, thanks :)

I am still extremely tempted by the moto x just for those two things and how awesome it feels in the hand!

**** IT! Installing the app and will see how much it affects battery life.

Give a verdict in a week? Get out and take some photos :D

Ha ha ha

See you on the Moto thread soon :)

Perhaps..... :p

Oh, that ac one does look better than the one I was using!

I use a pin lock on my device so can't use lock screen widget stuff.

Thanks!

Yup will post some photos etc. over the next week (maybe do a few comparisons with the one s) and monitor battery life, I hope battery life is at least as good as it is on the one s....

The tap to take a photo while recording video works fine.

Not working here

I use a pin lock as well and you can still use widgets on the lock screen. You just have to allow it in the security settings. However, with the NiLS floating panel add on, it no longer requires a widget on the lock screen.

Though, I don't blame you for liking ac display better as most do. I just started out with NiLS and liked it a lot and then tried ac display, but still preferred NiLS. Though admittedly, I haven't tried ac display since the latest updates and may try it out again in the future.

Ah cool! Seems like I need to look into the settings more :p

And yeah I prefer the way Ac works, NiLS looks very similar to the dashclock widget.

Just been having a google around about aC display and LCD/nexus 5, majority of people have said it doesn't seem to affect battery life too much....
