*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

Google really isn't geared for selling hardware is it? My phone is listed as shipping by the 5th, "pending" when I click it. They said they take the money on dispatch but my banks available balance a 32GB N5 short of the total balance, so must be them taking it.

they reserve the money until they dispatch it :)

I still stand by the S4 having a better camera. You guys are clearly drinking the coolaid if you think it performs better than the HTC One and S4.

"The Nexus 5 actually looks better than its competition in many environments"....Seriously?!

You must be on crack?! N5 did perform just as well as s4! And Better in some environments.. Are you blind or simply want to hate? I've noticed you alone trying to pick on random things when it comes to n5.. And HTC one? Sorry but the only thing that camera is good is low light which nexus 5 seems to do very well.

Does seem that way.

Just ticked over 13hrs, I've used it today for some sat nav, phone calls, lots of messaging texting and internet use. Screen time just hit 4hrs, battery just about to die.

Deffo lasted longer this time.

4hrs is not a bad screen on time by any means :) it will get optimized over time tho..

Your screen will scratch unless it's made of diamond or something that is extremely resilient to the stuff that's in your pocket.

I'm extremely careful where I place my phone, however my phone (which has Gorilla Glass 1) has 2 or 3 long scratches from sand/lint/other stuff in my pocket.

It's well worth investing in a screen protector, even if it's a cheap one.

only bits of sand can scratch gorila glass.. unless you carry diamonds in your pockets which I don't do that often.. :) metal has lower density than glass anyway..

saphire glass will be the next big thing.. ;)

Does Parcelforce provide an estimated time of when they deliver their parcels? Like with DPD, they always give an hour time slot so you don't waste the whole day waiting around and then miss the delivery man when you are taking a dump :(

nah no delivery window.. always get mine at around 9.50ish lol :) and its been sitting in my local depot(london north west) since friday..

Had mine since 9.. Only played for 10 mins :) I'll snap some comparison shots between my oppo and n5 and I'll compare the screens too! Oppo has a brilliant screen so its worth comparing them both being LCD.. :)

I see a lot of people saying the screen is "EPIC AMAZING ETC" but IMO its just OK same as nexus 4 :) my oppo find 5 walks all over the nexus 5 screen.. here's a quick video I made just to show the screen viewing angles compared to find 5! :) don't mind the quality was filmed with another find 5 lol, and audio had to be replaced with something else so ignore that too.. it doesn't look AS BAD in real life but the difference is clearly visible and those that owned a nexus 4 will know exactly what to expect! :)
as far as speakers go they are not stereo just made to look like it :) one side is speaker the other is microphone, over all the sound is tiny compared to oppo find 5 and I would say its somewhere around my old S2!

camera samples with no editing and taken randomly by hand so no tripod etc and all on auto on both phones.

In my opinion the screen is a massive improvement on the Nexus 4 in terms of colour, at an angle the Nexus 4 took on a horrible yellow haze. The N5's viewing angles are acceptable (nowhere near as bad as Sony) but yeh it's clearly not better then the Oppo5 for viewing angles. Nice video by the way.

Nice camera comparison, is the Oppo5's camera really that poor? The colours look pretty bad in the outdoor shots. The sky almost looks like it's night time!

Got to say it looks like the Nexus 5 is the clear winner in that camera comparison.

Not sure what happened with the sky shots on find 5 over all it has a really good camera! I may have covered it with my finger a little but can't be 100% sure now! :) and yeah nexus 5 really does a good job when it comes to camera, low light shots(room ones) came out a lot better than find 5.

When do you use your N4/N5 not at a full on faceing viewing angle? :S

not often but simply going from a phone that has no such thing as "viewing angles" its noticeable :) over all I don't mind it all its just a video for those that care and want to know how it looks before purchasing.

Ok so my first impressions. Holding the Nexus 5 next to a Nexus 4 really makes the Nexus 4 look a little cheap. There's a noticeable bump in how premium the device feels and looks. I love that the sides of the phone got the same grippy matt plastic as the back, instead of some glossy plastic. The side buttons are ceramic, they feel good. One slight niggle is the power button is a little loose, it wiggles about a little if played with. Volume rocker feels more solid. Another minor niggle is the grippy matt plastic seems to attract finger prints.

With both devices turned on side by side it emphasises the better colours on the Nexus 5. Better viewing angles too.

The device feels lightening quick, even faster then the Nexus 4 which was already super fast.

+1 to this :) I do love the feel of the device! buttons are fine in my case.. or I can't see the problem lol.
