*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

I guess it's not really a problem. It's just something I noticed when playing with it. If I hold the phone in one hand with my thumb positioned on the power button then slightly rock my thumb up and down the button has a little play in it. I'm guessing it's just a trade off from using ceramics. I wouldn't label it as a fault though.

can't seem to replicate it :o but my oppo does that.. never found it to be a problem tho! :) rooted already.. eh.. lasted 30mins :o:D

Great video dude - love the music :D

I was hoping the screen wouldn't be like that, makes the oppo screen almost look like an OLED interms of viewing angles compared to the N5.

Not sure if I want to open mine now, but probably will. People saying EPIC screen must have had a dire screen in some way before hand :D

its a nice device over all tbh! :) feels great in hand and build is good and jesus does it feel light compared to my oppo! :o feels like a solid toy lol.

thanks, could have done better but couldn't be bothered to pull out DSLR for that lol.

I have both HTC One and N5 infront of me - a stark contrast mark.

Reminds me very much of the N4.

glad you agree with me on the n4 bit! :) oppo does have EPIC viewing angles.. epic screen in general.. its a good benchmark tbh and it just shows how different nexus 5 is ! :) but I do like the phone over all and it'll do just fine.. unless I get bored of it! boom.

Motorola, the Google owned company, has today issued an invite/Save the Date for 13 November for the Moto G. As others have pointed out, the Moto X, a great phone, was sold only Stateside (to help Moto regain US market share), it will be interesting if this new Moto G is going global.

The thinking is yes. The invite has an image of the globe so expect this low cost phone to be offered here soon. Will make an interesting comparison to the Nexus 5 as Moto is making its phone more Android experience like and less bloatware.

leaked specs are nowhere near nexus 5.. not even nexus 4 :o

perhaps.. if anyone cares about moto after X.

I have to vent....so apologies in advance...

Parcel Force are a bunch of t****rs. My Nexus 5 has been loaded on the vehicle for delivery since 0657 this morning....and guess what? No delivery...

I'm so irate, how can Google entrust shipping their phones with this poor excuse for a company.

I called their customer services and they insisted that the phone will be delivered today...and guess what they outright lied to me.

I'm disgusted. How do I go about making a complaint to Google about Parcelforce?

It looks like it depends on the driver! Mines always here by 10am and the closest depot is 15 miles away.. It was in the vehicle for delivery since Saturday morning and delivered today at 9:30 ish

I can't compare it to the One, but like another guy posted above my screen drops in brightness a bit at ~40-50 degrees but then stays the same right to the point you just get a reflection, not really that similar to the video for me...

Are there 2 different panels? that might explain it...

what you need to remember is that the video was done in complete darkness to expose the screen a lot more.. plus I was comparing it to one of the best panels I've had in my hands :)

Bull tosh or they haven't looked at it properly :o shows where the angles go poof on n5

OMG that contrast and brightness shift looks so horrible in your video Grudas, my phone is still binb at my gf houses but this has totally put me off, and some of the photos she took where Meh, while others where great. But that screen, why, head on it looks really good, nice colours and contrast but that shift you get when you go side ways is bad.

another video this time with DSLR.. don't mind the loud focus sounds lol :) shows the viewing angles perfectly IMO and where they go from OK to poor.

After watching that comparison with the Oppo 5, I don't see that level of milkiness that the video portrays either. Granted, it goes a bit whiter but text is still quite readable. It's a bit dimmer when not face on but it's not distracting in day to day use.

I was a bit disappointed when I went from a GNexus to the N4 (OLED to LCD screen) but it didn't take me long to get used to it. The colours are improved on the N5 too.

both displays in that video were on 100% brightness :) also in dark you will notice it a lot more especially if you compare it to a display that has no such issue :)

I see your point guys but there are people who care a lot about viewing angles and IMO it is worth showing how they compare on the nexus 5.

the 2nd video I posted shows it in day-to-day conditions.. still 100% brightness but not being compared to find 5.

video -;

and where the angles goes poof -;

its a non issue in my case but going from find 5 to nexus 5 it is something I've noticed! :)

same as going from oled to LCD you will see the difference! my favorite panel of all time will still be OLED I love the way the colours look + black blacks + epic viewing angles = win.
