*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

pre-ordered one at cpw at 8am this morning, went instore and they said they've sold em all and my pre-order didn't go through! shambles

The Google browser is really bugging me, my Galaxy Nexus has the default Android browser (running 4.3 Jellybean) but the Nexus 5 uses the Google Browser and the font is so small while browsing these forums I cant read it.

Ive tried Firefox and that isn't any better, any ideas on what browser works best ?

GF got hers (and mine was in a working meeting, shes so thoughtful) on 6:0x shipping today hopefully get it soon. The photos so far are extremely encouraging, it might not be the best but it looks really good and a huge leap forward form the nexus 4.

Whats the huge leap?

I always use a seperate browser for forums as I like to browse in portrait. I whack up the font size. Quick ICS/Boat browser.

Nice. Nexus 5 the speed king, but I prefer the S4's more vibrant screen.

The N5 screen is a huge leap from the N4, contrast looks good, viewing angles are much better, no more grey shift. This time I actual like how the N5 screen looks compared to the S4, but it might be that I have been using LCD for too long.

I found the Nexus 4 screen very sub par too. If this is as good as the HTC One then it will suffice.

My fav soo far is the Note 3 screen.

edit - my old comparison with an S4 and N7 2013

Why do phone company's keep using on screen soft keys its just a waste of real estate.

Google has added there Immerse mode, if app devs use it, it will mean most apps will go full screen and need a swipe up/down to reveal controls, I think its a nice middle ground.

Ahh The S4 looks really good, some bits are a bit over blown but overall I would take it over the N7 2013 and that thing review really well with anandtech.

Meh it's a little oversaturated for my tastes. I think the ideal would be the middle ground between those two screens. :)

The Nexus 4 screen was really lacking indeed by default. It could be improved massively with custom roms and tweaks, however the viewing angles were still a bit off.

By all accounts it sounds like they nailed it with the N5 screen though, not heard anything negative about it yet.
