*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

I have been sent a Hong Kong model :(

The packaging was very dodgy, with labels over all the barcodes, so as to prevent the user from seeing the fact that the phone originates from Hong Kong.

Straight back to Amazon it goes.

Who was the dealer? I'm sure no one wants to end up ordering from Amazon only to get the same thing.

So, stupid question time. I know that lollipop has the ART replacing the Dlavik system for running apps, and that devs have had a long time to port over their apps, but will there be any backwards compatability? Is it ART only with Lollipop, or can I run apps that haven't been updated in a year or two?

For another £10 (£265) you can buy one which is actually sold by Amazon, as opposed by one from a third party reseller, which is only 'Fulfilled by Amazon', which according to their website means that the item is 'sold by a third party Seller, but dispatched to you from an Amazon Fulfilment Centre.'

If there should be a problem with the order then there is no other third party involved at all, which personally is what I would prefer on something like a mobile phone.

I know it shouldn't really make any difference, but as the old saying goes... "you pays your money... etc." :)

So my screen is smashed to bits, though the digitiser is working fine. The back of my phone is pristine as I've always had a case on it (why on earth didn't my phone land on its back!?). Has anyone here had any luck buying and replacing their own screen, or am I doomed to pay the full price for LG to fix it? If it matters, I bought it from CPW.

That's my problem. Fortunately, and thanks to this forum, I didn't buy from Amazon and the dodgy dealer. I'm hoping the Google Store will have stock in. I notice Carphonewarehouse have the 16gb version with 'awaiting stock' which suggests the phones are still being made.

I replaced mine a couple of months back, fairly easy, took around 1 hour all in.

Purchased the screen from ebay for around £50. I went for the whole unit - digitiser, glass, lcd.

Cheers :)

Is the new screen comparable in quality to the stock one? Do you remember the name of the seller?

A lot of the LCDs on ebay seem to ship with the (black) frame also, but I want to keep my eye-burning red frame :p

Thinking of getting a replacement back cover and camera lens (Looks like it comes with the backplate). Rest of my device is like new but I got the back pretty badly scratched up. Any advice on where to order, thinking ebay but not 100% sure.
