*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

Since there are still some Nexus 5s at Expansys I just ordered one. I am assured it is a UK model. It still seems like pretty good value at less that £300 for phone and next day delivery.

Let us know if it is a UK model and how you get on with Expansys.I have a lightly used 16gb one,but be keen to get a 32gb one before they are all gone.

Is the N5 still worth getting? Argos are doing them for £269 for the 16GB which is cheaper that what Google are selling them for.

As I've managed to loose my S5 the otherday while walking the dog & can't trace it & don't feel like spending £500+ on a new smartphone as I'm still gutted about loosing my phone. :(

My family are using N5s and they seem to be great so mine is on its way. The 32Ggb looks the better version, though, as apps seem to be getting bigger and we seem to have more on the phone too.

Do not buy any of the 32GB Nexus 5 (black) models that are Fulfilled by Amazon.

I have looked at all of the sellers' feedback and all have links to Hong Kong. This means that it is likely that the models sold are Hong Kong models, meaning you get no UK warranty, no UK manuals, etc.

The 16GB model that is sold by Amazon will be a UK model.

Yep its a steal for that price tbh

I did exactly the same thing and came across a VERY helpful thread on XDA.

What you need to do is take the factory screen protector or a similar sheet of tough, thin plastic and cut a piece to use as a shim. Insert it carefully into the slot and waggle it about a bit. Hopefully you should be able to release the pins and extract the tray. It took me about 20 minutes but worked and saved my bacon!

Thanks Mate I came across the thread last night and did just that spend a good 2 hours trying the plastic strip trick but it didn't work.

I went to a local phone shop who managed to sort out the issue for £10!

I got my N5 working again and I'm over the moon!

Will never do that again in a hurry...

On the subject of stock android nothing is as fast and fluid as stock android.

Not even with the latest chipset and 3Gb ram can a phone be as fast and fluid as stock Android and the LG G3 is case in point. I couldn't stand the stutters and lag of the LG UI and the phone went back today.

Oh dear.

My second warranty replacement phone just died after a week of normal use, doesn't switch on, charge, nothing, nadda, zip, zilch. So now just waiting on support to provide me with my 4th N5 in as many weeks  Worse still, I now have no phone...

  • Original N5 lost vibration function
  • 1st warranty replacement had defective screen
  • 2nd warranty replacement just died randomly, gets crazy hot if i attempt to charge it. No signs of life otherwise.

The Moto X (2013) remains ;)

How's the anti-ban process going? :)

TBH I'm not surprised as all the other phones didn't run stock Android. Did you send them back under DSR?

The anti ban process is going very slowly. I've bought a couple of things and will keep doing so but won't be buying any phones from there for at least 6-8 months just to get the ratio down.

Thanks for asking Mate. Shame the N5 you got from there was a Hong Kong variant. Will you be trying again to buy another one?
