It's so easy to unlock the bootloader (anybody could do it), that any protection Google had by only allowing images to be flashed with it unlocked is effectively useless.
At least it doesn't void the warranty!

Im struggling at the first part. When I put the phone in to fastboot mode, windows tells me it cant findthe driver for the device.

Ok it got to the end of the flash-all.bat sequence then said something about not enough space and failed? I have 26Gb free on the SSD I am using at the moment!
I found this guide to do it manually. Fingers crossed!

Well that was easy. 
Why didn't you just do the sideload method here? From my understanding, you wouldn't have had to wipe the device + you would get future OTA's too.
Think I might do the side load, don't really want to wait for a potential of a week or two......

Future OTA? Surely I will get future updates as I've just loaded the factory image and then locked the boot loader again?

Not 100% sure but I thought that was the main difference between the factory image and OTA image....
I am noob to this so I'm probably wrong
NP mate. I hope not. I cant see why a factory image wouldnt get any future updates. As far as I understand an OTA is fom 4.4.4 to 5.
The factory image is just the complete 5 img.
(Could be wrong!!)

Then go into messenger, I'm using the new messenger. The messages are there but have 'Message not sent, tap to retry' under them. If you tap them they send fine ?
Works fine here using the new Google messenger

Backing up to my USB stick now via TWRP. Following a guide to do a full flash via adb will post my thoughts soon 
Not going to bother backing up any data/photos i don't think as to my knowledge everything is on Dropbox and my Numbers are on My cloud also. Anything i may of missed?

I've installed Lollipop myself now, but I had a profiles setting in 4.4, which let me choose between silent, night, home, work, etc, where I could do things such as disable wifi based on location. Is this missing in 5 or was it just a feature of Mahdi-ROM?
I use nova prime on my phone and tab (mainly on tab to avoid touchwiz)
