*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

If your phone was working fine with 4.4.4 then it sounds like Lollipop screwed up when updating.

Best bet is to download the factory image from google, and flash it yourself using something like wugfresh nexus root toolkit which is probably the easiest way to flash your nexus and see if the problem cleared.

Sadly, my phone is still freezing and rebooting after a factory reset. I'm going to try to install kit kat on it later today. Actually, I'm going to contact google support first and only try going back to kit kat if they deny my rma, since I shouldn't have to revert.

Finding lollipop very frustrating so far. I'm finding lots of bugs switching between Google maps and other apps.

My two biggest gripes as of yet:
1) OK Google detection is worthless. I have to practically yell at the phone or hold it right up to my mouth to detect anything.
2) NFC tags as "trusted devices" do not work. Anyone had any luck with this?

the ok google works fine here with it on my lap
the nfc tags as a trusted device didn't work

Lots of bug reports even from google based apps. It's not great, still laggy, and has memory leaks. I',m sure they're sort it out, but it's just a little bit of a pain.

Sold my N5 as I needed a phone with a decent battery life and after trying out Lollipop I was extremely disappointed. 4.4.4 was spot on an as other members on here have said it needs a fair bit of testing which no doubt Google will get on top of.

We all got to understand as Nexus users we're Google's beta testers of sorts...

I've been used to it ever since the OG HTC Google Nexus One.

I haven't noticed a great deal of difference in battery life.

Today was the first time I used the GPS since the upgrade, driving up north. Everything was fine until I passed Birmingham, then it just couldn't get a lock at all. Driving back down south, it all started working again once I passed Birmingham, WTF?!

Yeah, good news! Google approved my RMA even though I'm 3 weeks over the 1 year warranty period. Such great customer service! I was ready to get a one plus one if my RMA was denied!

GPS on high accuracy kills the battery life on any Android phone I use.

I hate to say it but iOS still has better battery management...

Its the permissions, on iOS you can control it. I had the iPhone 6 for awhile, at first I left all permissions on for all apps and battery life was worse then my Nexus 5. When I got into the permissions and started to tune things it almost doubled.

Android sore needs App Ops, I hate almost ever app just having location permissions without my control.

After a couple of weeks using lollipop whilst I like the features there are many issues.

It is generally laggy
Typing on the keyboard doesn't keep up so laggy
Many apps don't work or crash after some time
Battery life is appalling
Screen reloads are slow and transitions are slow
Booting up is slower
It is just generally not very responsive
You can't disable completely the guest account

I'm somewhat disappointed and hope an update comes about soon. It's almost making me want to go back to a Samsung phone!

Yup.

I guess I'm one of the unlucky ones. There are many people suffering these issues though so I'm not too concerned. I may well try a complete factory reset again it just seems to have progressively been getting worse over the last couple of weeks. The battery especially.

I haven't experienced any of those problems either.

What do you mean by not being able to completely disable the guest account? If you've disabled it, the only way to use it again is by accessing it while you're logged in. What's wrong with that?

I agree about battery life, screen reloads/transitions and the guest account. Can't really comment about booting up as I rarely turn my phone off.

I can't say I've found typing or using the OS in general laggy - for me there are just a few pain points like the recent apps menu and going into apps from lock screen notifications, which are clearly badly optimised. The bigger responsiveness issue is that apps keep getting kicked out of RAM and reloading - Facebook is really bad for this.

Which apps have been crashing for you? I don't think I've noticed any more app crashes than on KitKat.

Off the top of my head.

There is definitely a memory leaking issue. I will see if I can video the typing lag and screen transitions.

I'm sure they'll fix it with a 0.1 release soon. But when I have some time I will do a backup and full reset again and see if that sorts it.

i'm with freeloader on this, though the only difference being the only apps i've had that crash are google search (happened on 4.4.4 a week or so before 5.0 came out) and gmail once or twice.

it is slow though at times. just clicked to open my music app, took 6 seconds to load first time

I'm raging here!

How can I just copy all the files off my phone to my PC? It won't work as a USB device, so I have to use the ADB thing and it shows in Windows as a Device. But then the file transfer is sooooooo sloooooooow that is crashes explorer trying to calculate the remaining time!

Why is this so hard!
