*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

Last few days I have been working in Much Wenlock. I have had no signal so I have been using Airplane mode. Battery obviously lasts well.
When I have been getting home and turning airplane mode off my battery is going from 85% to 25% in a matter of hours just sitting on standby on my desk ?? Just checked a few messages and emails.

Last night I turned my wifi off and unplugged from charging this morning and went to work. Airplane mode all day. I have kept wifi off and the battery is still on 80% now, been home for 3 hours so I think Wifi is sucking my battery on lollipop.

got to send my 9 month old N5 back to google, its lost Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
wi-fi is greyed out so cant even try to turn it on and Bluetooth turns on then straight back off.
was running Lollipop 5.01, but have gone back to kitkat and its still the same
so looks like hardware problem.

anyone running a custom rom ? which one ? any good ?

I was running Pure white for ages, Paranoid android finally got their first release of lollipop out though and nothing compares in my opinion, its 10x smoother than pure white was and the theme engine is a bonus.

I still love my n5, I do need to get a replacement screen at some point though, not that I've smashed it or anything but on the right side where my thumb does most of the work its literally worn into the glass after all this time!

These are back in stock on the play store! Bad time to buy so close to the spangly mobile show?

It depends on how badly you want stock experience. It's still a very, very good phone and I'm happy keeping mine until it either breaks or something comes along that ticks most of my boxes (front-facing speakers, ~5.5" screen, no huge forehead and chin, etc) - possibly the M9 or even the Z4 (really hope they change the design of it though).

I'm sure some of the upcoming flagships will get a GPE option or near-stock experience, but I wouldn't be disappointed if I had to stick to the N5 for another 6-10 months.

Well my second Nexus charger has given up on me. The first LG supplied one gave up after around a year of ownership failing to charge a few percent in a couple of hours.
I then bought the charger (Which now shows unavailable in the UK) on the Google Play store and it too has packed in. I only got it in November!

I thought something was up with it when it was taking ages to charge my phone. Last night it took 14hrs+ to charge from 5%-65%. I plugged in a cheap four port 1A charger and it done the rest in 20mins.

Google gave me a refund in 5 mins but then don't sell the charger now in the UK. What aftermarket chargers are people using (9W 1.8A)??

Looks like they've replaced the universal Nexus charger with the Moto turbo charger (1.6A @ 5V) which is showing as 'coming soon' for £25. The official wireless charger for £35 also includes a 1.8A adaptor.

It's nice that Google have such a good returns policy with our luck :p
