*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

+1 to this :) I do love the feel of the device! buttons are fine in my case.. or I can't see the problem lol.

I guess it's not really a problem. It's just something I noticed when playing with it. If I hold the phone in one hand with my thumb positioned on the power button then slightly rock my thumb up and down the button has a little play in it. I'm guessing it's just a trade off from using ceramics. I wouldn't label it as a fault though.

can't seem to replicate it :o but my oppo does that.. never found it to be a problem tho! :) rooted already.. eh.. lasted 30mins :o:D

Anyone with experience of the HTC One managed to get their hands on a Nexus 5 to compare yet? :)

Yep mine just arrived today but was meant to be posted on the 8th :) black 32gb.

I've had the htc one 32gb silver for about 6 months now so just been playing with them over lunch. This isn't a definitive review or anything.

Screen: it's pretty close but I prefer the nexus 5, it's slightly more vibrant but not samsung crazy. It's also a tiny bit larger.
Speakers: htc one party trick is it's stereo speakers, best of any phone I've played with but I hardly ever use them. Nexus 5 speaker is quite and mono but does the job I guess.
Build: htc one feels very solid being mainly alu chassis. Nexus 5 still feels really nice being light and soft-touch plastics but might mark up.
OS: htc one, I like some of the sense UI stuff like I use blinkfeed every day but in other places it's not so good like homescreen management etc. Nexus 5, omg kitkat on this thing is sooooooo slick and nice looking, just love it.
Camera: hmm probably a draw, sometimes the One photos are great other times really bad. When on holiday I always wanted another camera with me. Nexus 5 camera so far seems pretty good but lost to the 5s in a quick comparison we did in work.

So far I'm really liking it, maybe it's not the best phone in every respect but just the overall way it feels and looks is so nice. Hm yeah I'm gonna sell the HTC One ;)

My wife has an HTC one. Have only spent about 5 mins with the Nexus 5 so can't really compare yet - anything in particular you want to know and I'll do a bit of comparing when I get home.

Edit - beaten to it :-)

Can someone ease my worries, regarding google hangouts. There is no cloud integration with google hangouts and sms is there?

No sms gets uploaded in to the cloud? Or is it a settings that can be turned on and off?

Would be good to see what you think of the ergonomics of the device and what it's like to hold (including using the buttons - I find the HTC One home button in an annoying place, and also there's often wasted screen real estate from a rogue menu key on the One), and the screen quality.

I guess it's hard to compare the snappiness of the phone because one will be running KitKat and the HTC will be on 4.2 or 4.3 - but how much difference does the Snapdragon 800 make vs the Snapdragon 800?

I shouldn't be tempted by this, on paper it's definitely not worth it but the lure of a shiny new toy is strong indeed...

Already answered this once for you a few pages back!

No SMS goes to the cloud.

Only normal Hangout chats do.

I see a lot of people saying the screen is "EPIC AMAZING ETC" but IMO its just OK same as nexus 4 :) my oppo find 5 walks all over the nexus 5 screen.. here's a quick video I made just to show the screen viewing angles compared to find 5! :) don't mind the quality was filmed with another find 5 lol, and audio had to be replaced with something else so ignore that too.. it doesn't look AS BAD in real life but the difference is clearly visible and those that owned a nexus 4 will know exactly what to expect! :)
as far as speakers go they are not stereo just made to look like it :) one side is speaker the other is microphone, over all the sound is tiny compared to oppo find 5 and I would say its somewhere around my old S2!

camera samples with no editing and taken randomly by hand so no tripod etc and all on auto on both phones.

Great video dude - love the music :D

I was hoping the screen wouldn't be like that, makes the oppo screen almost look like an OLED interms of viewing angles compared to the N5.

Not sure if I want to open mine now, but probably will. People saying EPIC screen must have had a dire screen in some way before hand :D

I think most people don't look at the phones anything but face one, I know I don't so probably wouldn't have noticed much

True. and people have differing standards/expectations on screen quality.

I've had many devices now and this screen is below par in terms of viewing angles.

Not a real biggy for most people, but is is for me.

its a nice device over all tbh! :) feels great in hand and build is good and jesus does it feel light compared to my oppo! :o feels like a solid toy lol.

thanks, could have done better but couldn't be bothered to pull out DSLR for that lol.

What do you think on wireless charging pads? I thought about getting a fatboy but I'm not sure if I should wait for the official one.
