*** Nexus 7 2nd Gen thread ***

Are these much cheaper in the USA and would there be any compatibility problems (apart from the plug, of course)?

My Dad's missus works over there a lot and could pick me one up.

*edit*

Balls, just rang my Dad and she just got back on Thursday. Not going there for a couple of months. :(

£146 and £172 roughly

my wife is in canada next week and i cannot order one using a UK credit card.

so when she gets there she is going to try and buy one using a relative's card.

there is no sales tax on online orders unless ordering to 1 specific state in america afaik, dunno how it works in canada.

so the above prices are the actual prices you pay altogether (don't know if shipping is included though, even then it will be $10 = £6 at most)

Whoop, about to test my nexus 7 with chromecast.

Where did you get Chromecast from?

Both of these products have been pretty hard to get hold of. I managed to swipe the last two from a Best Buy in San Diego two days after the announcement but Chrome Cast has been really hard to find.

Depends on the site. They started to crack down a lot on it. Amazon never used to charge anything until earlier this year for CA :(

I paid about £161 inc sales tax (and some CA recycling fee) from Best Buy. Doesn't seem like a huge saving over the UK prices I've seen...

Latest Chromecast app (Chromecast_1_1_2.apk (2.9 MB)) is here.

Cheers, installed. Is an loving this Chromecast, it's so easy to steam from any device.

EBay.

I cannot wait, I want my hands on this! :)

Will be my first tablet, be ideal for browsing the forums, other social sites and playing games of course.

Chromecast still at £56 via bay, still a bit rich considering its correct US price. I think I might wait a bit until the stocks and app integration gets a bit better.

I'm trying to resist a Nexus 7 as well, so I can see how it goes with faults and hopefully a £200 mark for the 32GB once the gen one stock runs dry.

I too can't wait! Next week is going to be AWESOME!

I have the case on my bed side table, I keep looking at it when I walk in and my heart goes all light because for a split second I think I have one haha.

You will not be disappointed. :)

Can anyone confirm if I can use this new Nexus 7 32gb as a Satnav device also?

A little confused if I need to wait for the LTE version for Satnav option?:o

So you can download maps and stuff from apps such as MapFactor and use GPS with them? As this is VERY handy if so :D

Just order a Nexus 7 2nd Gen off a UK ebay.co.uk seller for £189 for the US version. Quit like the idea of a 7" tablet for the coffee table, the surface pro is a bit big and heavy to have sat on my gut while I watch TV :)

i had a HP touchpad running android, and i sold it soon after getting the original nexus 7, 10" imo is just far too big for a tablet, unless of course you buy one which is extremely thin, no bezels and very light.

the nexus 7 feels around the right size for me tbh, it fit's easily in one hand, the right size for portability too, the 10" was just too big to carry around with you.

Agree, I have the iPad 3, and unless you are resting it on a cushion or supporting it in someway. It's a nightmare to keep upright due to weight and size. Typing on it whilst supporting with one hand is a pain.

The N7 seems perfectly sized for one hand support. So laying in bed using it won't be too taxing on the wrists and grip.

Mmmm, 1080p goodness in bed.

:D

Now come on Google, hurry up and release the LTE version so we can have 1080p goodness where ever we are!

Have you not seen the price difference? I think I would rather hotspot my phone and pay an extra £4 for unlimited usage on my phone. Same signal band and will do the job fine.
