*** Nexus 7 2nd Gen thread ***

Have you not seen the price difference? I think I would rather hotspot my phone and pay an extra £4 for unlimited usage on my phone. Same signal band and will do the job fine.

Yeah I thought about doing it that way, but I'm on Giffgaff which means 1GB a month maximum data (no tethering on unlimited plans), shared between phone and tablet, which probably won't be enough. My phone isn't 4g either, and it'll cane the battery on it.

So an extra £60 plus £12 for a pre-loaded Three 3GB sim card (which will be 4G pretty soon) every 2-3 months vs more hassle with tetherring and not enough data/new phone plan and or no 4g.

Agree, I have the iPad 3, and unless you are resting it on a cushion or supporting it in someway. It's a nightmare to keep upright due to weight and size. Typing on it whilst supporting with one hand is a pain.

The N7 seems perfectly sized for one hand support. So laying in bed using it won't be too taxing on the wrists and grip.

it's actually put me off getting a nexus 10

i think i will stick with 7" tablets until the tech is available to make the 10" a lot thinner and lighter and smaller bezels.

I've cancelled my order, my mum is going to America in September so I've asked her to buy me one instead!
Ordering from Amazon USA works at around £170-180. I had loads of vouchers to use for Amazon UK and that would cost me £165 so I might as well just pay the little extra and keep the vouchers for anything else I want!

postage times are a right pain.

the best thing to do would be ask a relative to order it 2 week's in advance. when your mum get's there give them the cash in dollars for it.

im currently trying to do the same thing in canada.

amazon US won't ship electrical goods to canada, amazon canada has no stock, google play canada won't accept my credit cards.

i ordered some other stuff on the 15th of august and estimated delivery time is 30th of august with expedited shipping.

my wife still hasn't ordered one even though i've told her several times to do so using a relatives card and giving them the cash, instead she is trying to find it for the same price locally, which will never happen.

that's women for you.

I originally was going to order it from the US, but for the fuss and price it wasn't worth it. Why don't you guys simply wait until next week? It's 7 days until it's released. I will be picking it up from the highstreet.

Yeah that's a good idea, I might do that tonight actually

Right I bought my 32gb Nexus 7 from Ebay and got it imported into the UK.
It's been fault free for 2 weeks now, but today I noticed that the wireless charging stopped working.
I tried reseting the bootloader and rebooting the device and no joy. I then resorted to opening the N7 up and cleaning the contacts and lifting them up a little as suggested by others over in the xdadevelopers thread and put the case back on and still it doesn't work.
The only thing to do is probably to wait for the official launch of the Nexus 7 2013 in the UK (today) and then see if I can get a replacement via Google UK.
As far as I know the warranty should be international. Fingers crossed.

No, that's the price before shipping.

And that's what I mean, with import duty and shipping price, it won't be any cheaper will it?

I'm not saying it's a silly idea, just figured at this point. May as well just buy from the UK.

What is the exact date? Next Wednesday isn't it?

You'll be close to the UK price if you go that way. The release date has been quoted as the 28th.

dont pay any shipping (see above) or import duty if you bring it back and dont declare it (say you took it with you if questioned)

you would have to be crazy to get it imported to the UK as it's probably more expensive, but if your in america or canada on holiday, buying one whilst your there is a no brainer

Should squash any doubts about battery life (due to the trash that is Engadget's review)

Na, mainstream tech blogs are just dumb. :p Mind you, Anand probably has a gold award ready for the retina iPad mini, or Platinum Unobtainium if it uses something from Intel. :D

Good to see a total platform power chart, he should do one for everyday tasks too.

Yep - there is no way in hell the original Nexus 7 has a better battery than the iPad Mini - mine needs constant charging.
