*** Nexus 7 2nd Gen thread ***

I have pre ordered the 32 gb from the large supermarket for sake of convenience if I need to return it, hopefully it will be here by the end of the week next week.

have to agree with you, my local driver gave us his mob number for any missed deliveries and drops them off on his way home.

Being using my tablet for a day now and have to say it was worth the upgrade from v1, wireless is so much better now with 5G.

Is anyone having any problems with the playstore & youtube app loosing connection to network? ... takes 2 or 3 attempts to install an app.

The amusing thing is I live 20 miles away from ****** themselves and my Yodel depot is the one which will actually collect their deliveries daily.

You couldn't make it up.

I've had no problems to that effect.

I completely agree about Yodel, but from the experiences here, it does seem that they'll let their more unscrupulous drivers get away with terrible service. DPD are excellent and much better in my experience.

To be fair City Link used to not turn up a few times either, but rather than lie they would hold their hands up and make sure it got there first drop the next day. That is inconvenient enough when you are waiting for something.

Yodel, have never in 6 or so attempts delivered next day or left a card after shipping . They have NEVER got it to me the following day because I don't have a card to rebook and twice they got it to me on the 3rd day after circa 90 minutes of me being on hold.

They are pathetic.

Don't get me wrong, they are a complete pile of ****e as a company. I could make a list of the better couriers, but that would be pretty much all the others.

I had a run-in with Yodel because they delivered an item too early (yes really). On their website they listed the delivery times, but delivered it earlier than their stated hours at like 8 or something. As it was my (then) work address which is a large university (i.e. obviously open business hours). Other than inaccurate information anyone with even half a brain (and all other couriers) wouldn't have attempted before half 8 when all the buildings officially open. They did make an effort to deliver it properly the next day, but they are too stupid to even save themselves extra work.

I seem to be experiencing around 20% battery drain over night with nothing even running.

Going to stick better battery stats on and try find exactly what is chewing through it.

Make sure to sign into all the default Google apps by opening then once and then closing them even if you are not using them and Google Now will chew through a bit especially in first few days/weeks, I always turn it off for this reason.

Thanks for the tip, I'll see if that makes any difference. I've "disabled" Currents as well as I never use that at all.

do you leave it on overnight? or turn it off?

if so why would you leave it on overnight? it's not as if it is a phone and you may get an emergency call or something

Pretty much this, but if you need to leave it on overnight for some reason, what better time to charge it.

20% seems maybe a shade high, but not dramatically less than I'd expect for it to be idle for 6+ hours (depends on how long you class overnight as really). All I care about is being able to use it for a full day under normal conditions and mine manages that with loads to spare.

I've been through all this with my SGS2, disabling all the features to eek out better battery life, then I realised it was easiest just to get a spare battery and use the features that my phone has. It's easy to look at "performance for performance's sake" but I guess this is an overclocking forum, so it's not too weird a phenomenon! All I'm saying is that I've learnt the hard way to stop creating more ways to waste my own time :p

Just put it in airplane mode - should only drop 2-3% overnight.

Won't it increase wear and tear also on the charging port? This is one of the reasons I purchased a Pogo cable for my Nexus 10. Every little helps.

It will if your ham fisted.

It was powered on, always leave my tablets on overnight but never had this amount of drain over night. Even my Xoom only drops about 3-4% through the night.

I leave it on simply so I can pick it straight up in the morning and check FB/Twitter/G+ etc without waiting for power up.

wear and tear on a charging port? seriously? lmao

it's not exactly a mechanical moving part now is it?

also i plan on upgrading my nexus 7 every year when the new version is released, if it doesn't last 12 months im sure it should be covered under warranty, but even then i expect a charging port to work forever, never had any issues with any phone or tablet or laptop in the past, in fact any device which i ever needed to charge.
