*** Nexus 7 2nd Gen thread ***

What's the general consensus on the new 7? Got some spare cash burning a hole in my pocket

it's far better then the original nexus 7 due to the screen alone.

it also dissipates heat a lot better, meaning it doesn't overheat meaning you pretty much have 100% of the power all the time (no throttling like on nexus 4, etc).

since your on guernsey is that not a VAT free island? ordering from amazon should make it pretty cheap then, well worth it.

my plan is basically to upgrade my 2 nexus's every year from now on.

nexus 4 > nexus 5 within a month or two

nexus 7 > nexus 7 v2 = done for £60-70

never going to use the camera (back one) on it, wish they had just placed it on the front for skype, as the front one is pretty poor in comparison.

the only bad thing i can say is that i cannot root it because i use it for sky go, but that's true of all tablets.

for reading it's brilliant, for browsing i feel the text is too small, res is too high maybe for such a small screen. probably need to go into settings and change that tbh.

Thanks for the thoughts/advice all. Just ordered.

Cheapest place for me was John Lewis at £159 and going to get myself a poetic slimline case. Amazon don't tend to take off VAT unless it's sold direct and dealing with resellers can be a nightmare over here (the amount of packages that just never make it here is unbelievable) and collect+ is a bit hit and miss so often have to pay to send back and rarely get fully refunded. Can't complain at that price though!

They do seem to hold their 2nd hand value too so I think I'll look at doing the same as you Sonny.

Were you holding the device? When holding it mine doesn't do it. Put it down and it does.

Tried it both ways and it's fine, also just tried it with 4 fingers again its fine no jumping around

Lies, there is no app

there was , for some reason its gone off google play, maybe overclockers didn't like it as it was a 3rd party app
no idea when it disappeared, but it was there a few months ago, I have it on my phone and old tablet, but couldn't find it when I went to add it to the nexus 7

I've noticed mine misses quite a few touches when typing. It's very frustrating! More so in landscape then portrait. Doesn't like fast typers at all.

Coming from Ipad I find this really bad on the Nexus. I'm constantly correcting everything I type as it either misses or adds random characters everywhere.

Bought the 32GB version this morning in a drunken decision (damn you Saturday nights) glad I did as im off on holiday for 2 weeks and the 16 hour flight is going to be a killer! id put off buying one for around a month.

Cant wait can anyone recommend a case and maybe a controller for it? I have bought a usb to ps2 cable to see if that will work (few threads in various places say it does)
