*** Nexus 7 2nd Gen thread ***

I unrooted mine a few days after I got it, and everytime there is a system update I download it and the Nexus will restart and go to a Team Win Recovery page.

How do I install the update from there?

Or a better situation is, how do I remove that and make it just pure Android but unrooted?

Flash a pure google image with Nexus Toolkit.

picked one of these up yesterday and i am very impressed... been unsure over getting a tablet with the wife having an ipad but im glad i did.

size is very good and i picked up an official asus standing case (£30 though :() as i wanted one that would last unlike most of my previous ebay purchases

screen is excellent, intend on using it for a good bit of reading so thats good but its mainly for browsing the net and playing a few simple games.

any tips on a couple of apps to install that really show the nexus off?

I got one of these yesterday and I'm extremely impressed. It's not quite as good as the iPad mini that my kids have (mostly due to that having a better form factor). But 32gb for £209 delivered is incredible value and I absolutely love it.

For me the form factor is great for commuting though. I find it easy to hold in one hand in a way the iPad mini can't. The battery is great. The screen is fantastic. It’s very responsive. I was really nicely surprised by how good the stereo separation was when playing films through the onboard speakers.

I've had a couple of missed key presses but only on the keypad so that may be a software issue rather than the common issue... But even if it is that issue then I can live with it. I also find it a little slippery to hold but we'll be getting a case soon which will resolve that. The only other issue is that the power button is a little awkward to press but that may be no bad thing of course.

Overall I am extremely happy. It's such good value and the perfect device for commuting.

lolwut?

apart from width, the nexus 7 spanks the mini at everything and at launch the 32GB ipad mini was like £350.

seriously i don't see how anyone could think the ipad mini is better, the screen on the 2013 nexus 7 is far far far superior and the screen is probably the most important thing on a tablet.

IPad mini was great with IOS 6 for me. 7 ruined it and why I got a Nexus. The aspect ratio on the mini was superb and browsing web pages was better although the screen was lower res it did not suffer for it.

Nexus is better in some ways but I would not say it is miles better. The price is the best thing as a 32gb nexus is less than a 16gb mini.

I would love a Nexus with the same aspect screen the mini.

Same here wished I never update to iOS 7 on my ipad 2 getting too many problems although 7.03 has helped a bit still bad.

I far, far prefer the screen aspect ratio of the iPad. Is far more usable for that reason.

I find that weird. Each to their own, though. For me, the Nexus 7 form factor is excellent for reading in portrait (very comfortable in the hand), and the slightly wider bezels on the top and bottom are good for avoiding accidental touches when used in landscape, especially in games. Plus, I can slide it into a pocket and carry it wherever I go.

I was informed Kitkat will roll out to current Vanilla Nexus devices from the 25 November . Of course take this with a pinch of salt as source is unconfirmed.

I use the Poetic case and it works very well. It's very slim so hardly increases the size but still offers good protection and has smart wake up and sleep.
