*** Nexus 7 2nd Gen thread ***

Well I was sceptical about the screen size at first and certainly compared to the iPads (even the mini) it feels small. But as I commute on a train a lot I've realised that it's a great size and form factor as I can actually hold it in one hand and type or swipe with the other. It also just about fits into a pocket. If it's only for home use them the size isn't ideal but for commuting and being mobile it's great.

I agree with everything apart from the home use part I had a 10 inch tablet originally and in the home it's just too bulky to use, I would rather use the ultrabook or the nexus 7.

Holding a ten inch tablet is a pain

how does the warranty work with the asus nexus's?

if i buy a brand new one from elsewhere does it have a warranty card in the box to fill out etc?

do you need a receipt?

I use plex on the n7 for streaming movies/TV shows from my main PC, works flawlessly, transcodes anything not playable and they've just added chromecast support.

Has anyone been able to select a google drive account to connect to? basically I have set-up a new google account specifically for my nexus 7, this comes with its own 15gb google drive (no space being used)

Long story short, I have another google account with its own googledrive, this google drive has the CBT nugget videos on which I am currently watching, I want to see if I can log out of my "nexus 7" google account on my device, and login using this other address with all my files.

I want to try and avoid migrating all my videos and stuff to the nexus 7 google drive if possible.

I had a quick go but I dont think its going to work, it just allows you to use the drive that the nexus 7 google account was registered with.

Received my nexus 7 today. It's refreshing to actually hold a laptop with one hand now

Any must have apps for the nexus 7

Got mine yesterday. Been out of touch with android for a few months. Would also appreciate a recommendation of apps.

Only packing the awesome SwiftKey which seems to have merged the phone and tablet editions into one which is handy as previously I only had the phone version.

Very close to buying one of these, anyone know where the best price for these are? I'm tempted by the 32gb version depending on price if not will have to get the 16gb.
I'm a apple user and haven't used a android tablet or phone will I find I awkward? I'm looking forward to the open experience and just seeing how android is!
Any tips/top apps? Also what does rooting allow you to do? I'm guessing it's like jail breaking a apple device but don't know the benefits if rooting.
any help/advice is much appreciated.

Got a nexus 7 2013. It is a very nice tablet! Screen is epic. 4.4.2 is so nice to use too.

Although just not sure if I would use it enough so trying to decide if I should return it and get a nexus 5 to replace my one S instead

Are there any must have apps/games for the N7??? Finding firefox rather slow compared to chrome and the UI is pretty poor too but firefox has the adblock extension and stylish addons.........

Cases
I've got a Mofred one and it's perfect, you can get them on the Rainforest for around £15. It doubles up as a stand if you want to watch films which is a bonus

Apps
This really depends on what you're going to use the tablet for.
Flipboard - great for news and feeds
BaconReader - great for Reddit

You can change your keyboard on Android btw, try Swiftkey it's excellent

i ended up buying these two cases:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Poetic-Blue...=UTF8&qid=1388414152&sr=8-32&keywords=nexus+7

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00FJ4YMXI/ref=noref?ie=UTF8&psc=1&s=computers

might regret not getting a slim case, will see what they are like when they arrive.

also bought this:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/MOFRED®-Micro-USB-The-Cable-Nexus/dp/B00E0Q6SHO/ref=pd_sim_computers_4

with the correct app it will allow me to read usb sticks and hdd's (aparently!!)

any other must haves?

Take the Dremel to it Nexus ;) Not sure if you drive but torque is a damn good app and looks good on the nexus (have been trying it out on the 2012 version today and its cracking!)

Ordered myself a Nexus 7 32 GB LTE today (plus a Data 0 sim from Ovivo). Looking at cases now but there seems to be way too much choice lol...

I'm not sure whether to get a case with a keyboard or just a case that doubles as a stand.

Which screen protector would be the best choice?

Any other accessories that I should be considering? I've already ordered a micro usb to usb adaptor to use a flash drive as additional storage (hoping that will work as well as the reviews say).
