Nexus 9

Might be tempted if any stores have offers but seems to expensive to me. Cheaper than the new iPad I know, but was just looking at their prices and at least the extra £80 takes you from 16gb to 64, still too expensive I know, but still...

No SD.
No buy.

Shame, looks pretty good otherwise.

But what is the point of a 16gb device now? I've got a couple of games that sit at over 2gb, so with what is probably only about 5 or 6gb remaining as free, it's going to fill up damn quickly.

Seriously, 32 or 64gb as a minimum. 128-256gb premium. With an SD slot too that supports 128gb SDXC would be lovely.

It's like google/HTC want us to buy an iPad. It just feels like they are so out of touch when it comes to the tablets.

Can someone double check this just so I know I've not missed anything / going crazy...

Nexus 9 from rainforest uk - 16GB £319.99 / 32GB £399.99

Nexus 9 from rainforest us (they will ship them to the UK) - 16GB £304.98 / 32GB £364.69

Prices for rainforest us are calculated using xe.com and INCLUDE shipping to the UK & import duty

Well this thread took a turn back five years ago... news flash Nexus devices don't have SD-Card slots, never will again. Why was anyone expecting one?

The Nexus 9 is a competitively priced tablet with top of the range specs, a great 4:3 screen, premium build quality and Nexus quality software. There is no way it is over-priced and there is no way they have missed any mark. The only criticism perhaps that holds any weight is that base models should probably be 32GB these days.

Which 9'"+ tablet around £320 currently on the market is better?

But a 32 GB tablet with no expandable storage is going to put a lot of people off. The lack of microSD would be easier to deal with if there was a 32/64/128 GB option, but having only 16/32 GB options is just not enough for a lot of us.

They're also a lot more expensive than anticipated. If people had been basing their choice on tablet on these coming in at <£250, as was the Nexus 7, then it'll be a bit of a shock to find them at higher prices. Especially so with tablets like the Nvidia Shield appearing at much lower price points.

It's the same as I said about the Nexus 6, they're not overpriced for what they are, but they're simply a fair bit more expensive than expected, which is always going to put some people off.

pre-ordered from the site previously mentioned. 16Gb white.

at least I am in the queue... can decide to cancel later if a better deal or timescale is available.

But the Nexus 7 was a 7" tablet and this is 9" they aren't even in the same category. This is closer to the Nexus 10, which was much more expensive then the Nexus 7 at release and was actually more expensive then the Nexus 9.

Decisions decisions, the new phone and tablet have left me quite indecisive.

I've got a Nexus 4 and a Nexus 7 (2013) (mainly for comics), neither of which seem to be all that slow and screens seem clear enough, so the higher specs don't really interest me to much. The Nexus 6 would probably be to small for comics, the Nexus 9 would probably be ok but I'm sure there would be a lot of wasted screen space.

Both tempting, but I can't pull the trigger on either. Can't even tempt the wife to upgrade her Nexus 10 for 9. Tho I do hope that Nexus Player sees a UK release, all the current Android on TV hardware has been pretty hit miss, I've already forked out on Rokomagic, Ouya and a Chromecast all with mixed results.

That's probably true, yeah, but as this is replacing the Nexus 7 and the Nexus 10 there's always going to be some people disappointed in the price, which is what we're seeing with this and the N6.

Can we really say its a premium build before anyone has held it, or are we basing that on the fact that there is some brushed aluminium involved? It may well be fantastic, but still...

It may not be fair to directly compare the price to the 7, but looking at the 7 pricing it costs an extra £40 to go from 16Gb to 32Gb, and I think it is fair to compare that.

How is this comparable to the mini? Comparatively the 9 has much much much better specs, larger screen, higher PPI. The Nexus 9 is a direct competitor to the Air not the Mini.

Although the tablet may be targeted at the AIR at the end of the day it's competing for market share with all tablets, the general consumer really isn't going to care about benchmarks, in real world usage the differences in power and ppi are negligible with most current tablets these days, for a lot of consumers it's down to aesthetics, build quality, battery life, screen size, preferred market place, and of course pricing, I think Apple making the price of entry on their tablets very affordable is going to have a negative impact on this product, people way up the pro's and cons over the Mini and the Air all the time, what excludes this product from that evaluation?
