NHL 14-15 season

lol short lived!!
Although I'd take the points over the games in hand to be fair. Blues schedule is tough so they will have to end the season extremely well to finish top of the conference and almost perfect to finish top of the league.

Jets / Wild / Wings / Pens all away next 4 games! Doubt they will be top come this time next week.
Then it's home against Blue-jackets, Cannucks and Flames which they should be looking to win all 3.

Stars, Hawks x2, Jets and Wild to finish. So only 1 game out of 13 not against a contender. With 1 other being unlikely outsiders (Stars).

I'll be happy getting 1st in the division with that schedule. If they don't beat the Hawks at least once, they won't finish first so those are huge games.

I think Quick is quite prone to loosing his cool like. I've seen him kick off quite a few times but there was nothing wrong with that play.

I think there should be some sort of recognition for difference makers or game changers for a teams season.
Hammond and Dubnyk have been revelations and Dubnyk in particular has to go down as the best signing of the season by far. The Wild team were already good but had lost all confidence after leaking goals due to shoddy goaltending. Dubnyk came in without having a great record previously but has worked on his game and it's paid off in a huge way.

Hammond is 11-0-1 which is very impressive and I'd say Sens are possible favoured ahead of Bruins to make it. You keep wondering for these guys - when will the bubble burst but they just keep going.

That was a pretty big loss like. Doesn't matter until playoff time but it just seems like the same teams each year lose when it matters most.
Rangers are just tearing it up at the minute though.

Blues lost 6-3 to the Wild and 5 of the Wild goals were fluky deflections!! Half of them were standard for Hockey, but the other half don't happen very often at all.
Just one of those days. Outplayed them only to lose last week then had an even game and lost this week.
Not good given we could very well play them in Round 1...

Blues v Wings game was a good tight game - shame they lost that too.

yup some games we look like the best team in the world, good shots, passing, defense playing like they should be.

Then the next game its "how do we play Hockey again?!?!?"

On the other hand its always nice to watch games like this: :D

caught the first half of blues vs wild before i went out. In the first few mins they hardly touched the puck. then they just came from nowhere.

I have reserved myself to the fact that the Flyers are just hoping for good draft picks now.

Berube needs replacing. He really is a waste of space. Hextall needs to shake things up but the changes need to come from more than just the roster in my opinion.

Goodbye sweet Presidents Trophy... you will be missed.

Ducks GM has come out and said he's not interested in the PT... wouldn't really matter to be honest when we play like a pee wee hockey team, Fowler got scratched for the games and all the fans stating we should get rid of him cause he's rubbish (I'm a Fowler fan).. Yeh that totally worked out last night...

Ah well there's always next year.

It could still go to any of the top 7 like at the minute if you look at the schedules but Ducks only have 7 games left so they are now probably least likely of the top 7 to win the league.

Massive comeback win vs Penguins last night. pens get 2 goals in 17 seconds then Ott gets the fight and the Blues did well to really turn the game around.

Especially after the non-call on the Wings goal (scored with broken stick) then the possible non-slashing call that lead to Pens 1st goal.
Good to know the Blues have the type of players who don't moan on about those things and just let the Hockey do the talking.

Kings will probably win all their remaining games now and qualify easily then go on and win the cup....They just seem to do what they need when it really matters.

I wouldn't look to NYR as running away with 1st let though as Lundqvist is back this weekend I think and it's the type of thing that can hurt a teams good run behind their backup goaltender. So we'll see how that pans out for them.

Thanks you Flyers!!!

Way to annoy your fans by sucking recently and falling out of the playoff race then just when it's too late turn up and beat the Hawks 4-1.

Good for us Blues fans though so well done.

We still have to play the Hawks twice like so things could still turn around

It can be pretty frustrating like. Some teams do just match up better against others though regardless of form etc.

The margins in the NHL are so fine - a slightly better than average day for 1 team and a slightly below average day for the other can produce all kinds of unexpected results. But it's good as that's why the leagues are so tightly contested.

having seen the Flyers play against the Blues this season (who have been one of the most consistent teams in the league week in week out) I'm surprised they don't have more points. There are teams worse than them closer to a playoff spot IMO.

I dont get how we can stomp teams like the hawks and the wings like that but mess up the easier games so much.

that Voracek/Giroux tip in was a thing to behold though.

Same with the ducks..games which you think "hmm gonna be hard" they perform excellent and we win... others where we should easily win and smash them 5-0 we lose by some stupid margin.

I'm still surprised that both kings and bruins are so far down in the league. Top teams last year (Bruins with the presidents trophy and kings with the cup) and they seem to be out of form this year, especially when the kings "apparently" have the best goalie in the league (overrated imo).

Looking at the standings it still is all the play for, its the rangers to lose really, ducks may still get it but we have to win every game and get lucky with others losing, guys that are just out of the playoff spots will still be going 100% compared to others who have no chance.

Kings will just rack up another 8 game win streak and knock the Flames out. For me, the West is now between Flames and Jets for the final Wild Card spot.

Dallas have closed the gap but they leak far too many goals to keep their streak going.

Agree though Rangers have it all to lose and other teams need 90% or more win rate most likely to catch them which will be a challenge given the schedules and the amount of desperate teams making 1 final push.

Should be a good couple of weeks. (I'm off work too)

last season, I would have argued the point.

however, this season I would say Carey Price, Cory Schneider and Pekka Rinne have all been far, far better.

Price has been exceptional in every game I have watched him in.

I would put Mason in that list in honesty but he has spent a lot of time injured this year.

When we took him on I was really sceptical but he has proven me wrong time and time again.

I feel we should bring Zepp up from the phantoms too and get rid of Emery.
but im sure a lot of fans say that about their team's 2nd netminder when he starts letting a few past him.

this.

Dallas seem to lack strength at the blue line in nearly every line on their roster. Their attacking play is a real threat but they just dont have the pace or depth on defensive plays to counter anything.

it seems that the 'protect the net' tactic just results in a screened goalie and more wild shots going in against them.

Horrible game against the Preds so far, and some horrible calls as well.

Feel sorry for Tom Wilson, whenever he's involved in anything now he gets 2 minutes regardless of if he really should or not, he's just got that reputation now.

Good night tonight it seems.

Ducks game at 5pm (could get used to this!) which we win 3-2 over the islanders, probably should've been more but we managed to survived a 5 on 3 for a nearly full 2 minutes with some excellent saves from Anderson.

And the rangers lose 4 - 2 to the bruins :D

Well if the Caps make it I don't want to be playing Rangers until as late as possible ;) They just seem to have stepped up a gear lately (last night's game aside, although with it being Lundqvist's first game back maybe a reason, I didn't see the goals).

Haven't really been following the West so not sure who's looking scary there, I know Caps lost to Nashville yesterday but they didn't look that amazing, good but nothing amazing.
