** NHL & Ice Hockey Discussion **

I don't think of of the teams going for a wild card spot are good enough to make a push for it. Only the Avs are even close and that's just because Wild/Preds are under performing. They are improving though so will pull ahead of Avs comfortably now.

It's all but a guaranteed certainty that all the teams in a playoff spot right now will be in a playoff spot after 82.

I just hope i'm still following my team after Round 1 this year..... :o

But it'll be hard to bet against a Blackhawks v Capitals final.

Anyone think any Eastern team is capable of taking out Washington in a Bo7?
The only team I'd give any hope to is Tampa. Washington are just too consistent.
I'd love a Blues v Caps final. I think it'd be a great series. But that's probably blind hope on my part.

Bought my first pair of skates after having my feet wrecked to hell by rental skates. Really happy with them! Going to try and go regularly and get better!

Need to keep up with this season a bit more.

100 points and beating the Bruins (albeit in overtime), makes up for the always annoying loss to Rangers.

Looked a tough game for both teams though, both Caps and Bruins taking some heavy hits. The Ovi hit on Miller looked pretty nasty, Ovi is just such a solid guy it doesn't take much to make a hit a lot worse!

Will be a good game tonight!

Caps haven't been playing well lately despite their standing, not hugely confident as they have had way too many shakes starts of late.

I didn't watch it but from the comments on FB and watching the highlights it was a pretty good game. Ended 2-1 OT but a lot of people said it was like a Stanley Cup final game and they want to see both teams in the final as it would be really good.

Shame the win streak came to an end but it was against a very good team who are easily the best this season so not too disappointed.

Still beating the kings which is what counts! :p

Just finished watching it, was a good game with both teams pretty evenly matched (which sounds pretty obvious given it went to a shoot out!).

102 points....

FINALLY!!!!!!!!!

I'm so sick of being in North America during the off-season that I just woke up on Thursday, e-mailed a friend in Vancouver and asked if she could get 10 days off work. Then when confirmed I just booked up.

So we've got tickets to watch 3 games and explore the city and surrounding areas:

vs Blackhawks
vs Sharks
vs Kings

It's a shame Vancouver suck with no playoff hopes but at least the other 3 teams will have.

Super excited - 23 years following this sport and 10+ visits that never coincided with the season so i'm stoked to finally go.
I'm hoping to grab one of their Black Jerseys before the game as I always loved that one growing up and it was cool to see them wear it again this season.

thats epic.

we are so close to a playoff spot, I dont think we have the depth to go far but the flyers have really turned things around this season.

i watched the DETvNYR game this weekend and thought our game against them would be tough until i saw that the leafs took a win against them.

after watching us lose in a close game to florida I really would love to see a win against the Wings.

It is really tough with Del Zotto and Voracek out of the lineup

Wow...2017 Winter Classic is in St Louis!!

I was just having the conversation 3 days ago with my friend saying we'd both like to fly out to the next one, meet up and celebrate new year then go to the game.

I hope I can somehow manage to get tickets. It'd be amazing.

I said no current playoff team would drop out but i'd say the Flyers are the only ones with a shot really. Detroit are struggling a bit and have played a couple more games. Flyers v Detroit will be a massive game for both.

Caps have their playoff spot nailed now, funny that they could not even show up to all the remaining games and would still be in the playoffs :)

They haven't been playing great lately though :/

We are very close, our 8-1-1 run is excellent. We'll make it IMHO. Best bit is hitting the playoffs on good form (if we make it) actually puts us in a good position.

Getting Kuznetsov's name and number on my jersey all that time ago seems like it paid off, guy is doing amazingly well :)

Just finished watching last nights game against the Preds, another slow-ish start but great ending.

Went to watch Steelers vs Panthers last night, 1st game in a few years and must admit the quality of refs in the EIHL still hasn't improved, not bad though a sell-out at over 9000 and the 50-50 draw made £5k :-0

A 4-3 win for the Steelers virtually seals the league title (providing they don't lose tonight at Fife or Cardiff don't beat Nottingham)

Might have to start going again next season when I'm not in London.

Where would one even start following this.
I enjoyed watching random games at uni many years ago.

I see there's online service all though it's quite expensive.

NHL Gamcenter is the official way, full season subscription which drops halfway through the season.

Worked out about £80 for the season this year, less than a pound a game if you follow a single team for all 82 regular season games. Then a lot of people also pay for a service that allows the viewing of blacked out games (if a game is to be shown on Premier Sports then you can't watch it online for 48 hours otherwise).

Might sound a lot I guess to a casual viewer, but for a fan watching every game it's decent value really.

Otherwise there's plenty of streams around to just watch a game live, not sure where else you can watch a finished game on demand, can probably download them from somewhere?

That's not bad at all. For some reason I thought I read $259 for the season.
So even blocked out ones you can watch OD after 48hrs, but costs extra? From same site?

Blacked out games can be watched 48 hours after at no charge, all included.

The only extra costs come about if you subscribe to some other service separately to circumvent the black outs.

Excellent, can you sign up from uk, or do you need to enter us address or anything?

Edit - never mind. All though it said US when I went to sign up you could choose. $12, signed up see how it goes for that price.

Is there a downloadable calendar of all the Vancouver games I can import into my colander.
