NHS BMI Calculator

The Daily Mail repeating say: dwell on that we'll all die early from genetics, AIDS, lung cancer, diabetes, heart attacks, COVID, dementia, stroke, high cholesterol, stupidity, be vegan etc. Live long the UK lol.

If you live long enough you’re probably going to get cancer or have a stroke / heart attack. No real point dwelling on it, beyond not overdoing the obvious things that are risk factors.

I am in the healthy range but not by loads ,red wine is my downfall, most food done fresh in the ninja but I have CBA weeks where it's too much processed, good muscle mass but struggle to get the correct body water content

I'm well over on the BMI scale, but still look thinner than most of the bloaters I see lumbering around.

I'm 45, BMI says 23.9, been hovering around that value for a long time. Prob running at around 13% - 14% body fat at the moment I reckon. That'll do :)

Bmi calculator is crap. Better way is to use the scales that put electric signal through body and measure fat muscle ratio.

No those are useless as well.

BMI is good for the average joe - it's a good indicator.

If you're into fitness you don't need to worry about BMI as you'll have a better understanding.

Blood tests and health checks are the best indicator of health really.

23.3, not that great but not terrible I suppose.
Which, by the way, is not the equivalent of one cheeseburger, but rather four hundred cheeseburgers... That number has been bothering me for a different reason, though. It's also the maximum reading on low-limit BMI calculators. They gave you the number they had. I suspect the true value is much higher.

[Guy in truck returns]
"It's not 23.3.... it's 15,000!!"

Gonna start a thread called what are the most repeated thread subjects in GD... :p
Tho it requires a little thought.
Does something need to be done about repeated thread subjects?

Mmm the ole BMI ****** again, weird as I was 24.7 on this index when I ran a marathon in 2:52... and could benchpress 115kg... and I was on the border... hey ho... never took any notice of these things... I look in the mirror and know whether I'm fat or not generally
I imagine you would have had a fair amount of muscle then. In that case 24.7 is excellent.

It would probably say you were obese as you lift.

Ahh yes, I love the old "BMI is crap because some people aren't accurately represented by it so my fat arse clearly isn't"

BMI works for probably 95% of the population. If it doesn't work for you then you are either athletic and have more muscle than your average bear or you just don't like hearing the truth. For most people who **** talk BMI its massively the latter.

22.3 at 12st 6 and 6'2". Age 40.

I'm 3-6 lbs over what I was during most of my 20s and 30s, but did get up to about 13st 6 a year ago, a BMI of 24.1. Had to tweak the diet a little, a few bad habits had crept in since working from home kicked off with COVID.

25.3, 5'9, 12st 3 and age 50.

Right on the threshold between healthy weight and overweight here. Says I could do with losing a few pounds. Cheeky swines :p

Perfect weight at BMI just under 20, if I was 7 foot, but I'm not and it is not.
I'll concentrate on growing taller, doing ok with getting wider
