NHS=Negligent Health Service

Wow My GP looks the opposite. Mine is packed out almost with a 3 hour wait until your number gets called from the ticket machine. I had an appointment at 10:30 this morning I was still waiting nearly 3 hours later.

No appointments? Queueing in person is such a waste of time...

pretty sure that's not how appointments work, unless your appointment was for a ticket from a ticket machine.
MY dentist is the worst place... They keep the door locked so you have an appointment but then have to knock on the door at street level loud enough for them to hear it on the second floor...

then the receptionist has to run down to open the door and let you in..

I was sat there listening to her on the phone and she said "sorry what?" every time she didn't hear the person on the other end..... how professional

No idea how she got the job.... unless her mum is one of the dentists

The woman at reception told me to grab a ticket and wait for my number to be called out?
maybe she thought you were attending without an appointment like the free for all some places do.

at my GP we sign in on a touch screen, never had to wait more than 20mins even when I've gone at 5pm in the afternoon, waiting room usually half full because they are still social distancing the chairs, anyone without a mask gets asked to leave :p

That's about the same as my practice.

IIRC due to the size of the building (I think it was either a fairly large office building, or part of the adult learning centre that was next to it), they've got a bunch of waiting rooms pretty much for each type of appointment/service (so bloods wait in one room, asthma clnic in another, neo-natal/maternity stuff in another), and you can book appointments ahead in which case you sign in at the touch screen machines or give the receptionist your name and get told which waiting room to go to and you're usually seen within ~15-30 minutes of the appointment*, or they do a "drop in on the morning" no appointment needed system for urgent on the day stuff but if you use that you may have to wait a few hours depending on how busy it is. IIRC they have several doctors/nurses doing that, but the "appointment" docs will try and clear it if they have extra time/missed appointments.
The "booked" appointment waiting area used to be far less crammed than the "drop in" one, despite the drop in area being the largest of all the waiting areas.

*Usually less, but they (rightfully) won't rush a patient who it turns out needs more time - although if they know you'll need more time they'll give you a note with an instruction to the receptionist that you're to have a double appointment next time (as I found out when my mother started going downhill with Alzheimer's and the doc needed more time to do assessments etc).

Over 10 hour wait in A&E and im still waiting. Nhs = fail

Thank your lucky stars you weren't seen immediately. Take a good look around you. I guarantee a large percentage of the other people you see waiting, don't need to be there. You might even be one of them. I would question your need to be there if you're still waiting after 10 hours.

Yes the NHS is failing in some areas, but the larger failure is the public's attitude towards it.

The problem with a 4 hour target is that if you weren't seen in 3 hours and 55 minutes, there isn't much incentive to see you at 4:05 versus 10 hours if it means someone else can be seen within 4 hours.

It's easier to blame the users then the system and try and fix it.

Im here for cauda equina.
14 people in queue and screen says 12hour 14min wait time
My mri scan showed 5 herniated discs and due to the pain doc said i got to come to A&E to get checked incase i get paralysis

Been here over 13 hours now. I can understand why patients get violent with staff.

Lovely attitude...

What's violence going to solve??

Do you think the staff there are making you wait on purpose? The system is broken, it's not the staff's fault. They are probably doing a 12 hours night shift and put up with violence, harassment, intimidation every night....

Correct. Mri was done due to back and leg pain

When im home i will post up the scan results from pc if ya like.
I believe you but sending you to ED based on a scan result is probably incorrect. I'm not sure what they think would happen but I can't imagine it would achieve much.

Normally primary care should talk to the neurosurgeons rather than just dumping people into A&E but it may be different in your area.
