Nice pongs and gorgeous whiffs. The Aftershave thread!

Anyone tried Thomson Carter? What has your experience been?
I picked up a "masculine" tester pack recently on a whim. Smoke and mirrors, shelby lane and postcards from. Quite liking the Smoke and Mirrors. Really enjoy the smell though seems a bit hit and miss though I have two 15ml bottles of Smoke and mirrors. One of them is brilliant, very strong smokey/leathery/musky scent lasts all day and some. The other bottle of the same fragrance initially great but has zero longevity.
Postcards from is a Unisex fragrance. Whilst very nice I dont find masculine enough to use myself, very sweet. Shelby lane is nice and fresh, sharp and floral whilst still bing reasonably masculine, maybe not my style though.
Using smoke and mirrors as a daily at the moment, the better bottle. Had a few random compliments on it in the last few days from female colleagues which has been encouraging as its a little out of my wheelhouse.
Though i'm hesitant to splash out on the 50ml in case it ends up flat and short lived like the other bottle.

Was talking to a friend the other day and Paul Smith Extreme came up in the conversation, apparently they have gone bust, and you could pick it up very cheaply from various stores. Although it is quite a weak smell, I do like it and do regularly use it, ordered a couple of 100ml "tester" bottles for £16.99 each. Was a little dubious that they arrived in plain boxes and no acrylic lid, tested both against my known genuine bottle and both are the real deal. I find I use a little more than other scents and almost as a deodorant, it seems to last pretty well when using this method, may switch back to Creed Aventus at some point.

New scent for the collection, Givenchy Gentleman EDP

Since I last posted went on a bit of a Lattafa binge:
Oud Honor & Glory - unreal pineapple crème brûlée scent, lasts forever.
Oud for Glory Amethyst - freebie off my mate at work as he wasn’t getting on with it. Oud for Glory + rose. Think I like it more than the ‘original’.
Art of Nature I - nuclear rose oud in the vein of Oud Maracuja except different fruits in the opening then it’s akin to Ombré Nomade for the remainder.
Khamra Qawah - original Khamra was a bit too sweet for me. This is more complex with some coffee in the opening and the sweetness dialled down.
Liam Grey - lavender and cardamon bomb with some black tea in the style of BDK Gris Charnel. Cosy and a bit more office safe than the above two.
Al Nashama Caprice - bang-on dupe of the discontinued(?) La Nuit de L'Homme Bleu Électrique.

I'm looking for something new if any aficionados can point me in the right direction. Below are a few past favorites off the top of my head to give you an idea:

Micheal Kors (Original)
Issey Miyake
Boss Bottled
Boss in Motion
PR 1 Million

Cheers. :)

I'm looking for some recommendations. My brothers asked me for a nice aftershave for his Christmas and in previous years I've bought him the usual high street stuff, Issey Miyake, Paco Rabanne etc I unfortunately missed his birthday this year since i was holiday so I'm looking to give him a 'better' aftersahve, possibly something on a par with a Tom Ford or something similar in the £100 - 200 price range. Any recommendations?

Thanks

I'm loving Althair by Parfums de marly.

So my little whiff collection now looks like:

Mont blanc explorer - almost lavender/herbal hippy. A relaxed leisure wear. Probably wouldn’t get another bottle. It’s reputed to smell like creed adventus clone but I’ve not tried that. Eitherway it’s ok but in my view there’s better out there.

Mont blanc legend spirit - fresh, almost issey vibe. I like it, not sure on what other feel but I don’t really care. On second bottle.

Mont blanc legend - more refined evening version of spirit. Less citrus/fresh notes but a good professional office wear that isn’t overly strong. Coming to the end of the bottle.

Gucci Guilty (black bottle) which is a new scent to me. Replaces the Mont blanc legend. A complex smell that finally settles to leather but a lot stronger than legend and keeps lasting.

I find that smells always change on me. The gucci one is a good example. It takes a while before it finally reaches the final smell on the skin.

Also there seem to be a number of different smelling “gucci guilty” with different bottle colours which is slightly confusing.

Can anyone justify the cost of some high street cologne to me.. In the past I swear you could get Hugo Boss or something similar for about £35/40 but I haven't bought any in years and was astounded to see they're nearly £100.

Is there anywhere to buy these at more realistic prices or are there equally as nice smelling, lasting scents out there that are not stupid money.

Thanks.

You could try a dupe house like Alexandria Fragrances. I got their aventus dupe and it’s very close. (I have a bottle of the OG) £58 for 50ml

I have also tried their Black Panther which is a copy of Tygar by Bvlgari, and it is very good.

Depends what you want really.
