I love the fact the world in botw is open and sparse at times, makes it feel more real. Galloping across a field as the sun sets with that beautiful piano tinkling in the background... it's magical.
Oblivion is one of my all time fav games but you couldn't walk 5 steps before finding a ruin, dungeon or something to explore.
If anything I prefer botw it over tears as it feels like they've shoe-horned extra stuff into the landscape just for the sake of it. Although I do like exploring the new caves and love the sky areas.
I've never understood the issue with the weapons, yeah they break but you constantly find more and it encourages you to try other types. If it's that much of a problem just complete the Trials and you have the upgraded master sword which doesn't need to recharge.
Zelda 2 on the NES back in the day put me off Zelda games for a looooong time. I've tried a few since but bounced off them all for one reason or another.
Be interesting to see which direction Nintendo takes with the next one on the Switch 2 given these have been massive critical and commercial successes.
