*** Nintendo Switch ***

In terms of games for kids, Nintendo just posted about this on Twitter and it looks incredible, not sure how difficult it will be gameplay wise though.

Anyone get a bit bored of sonic towards the end of the game.

I don't rate Mania at all. After raking my brains and thinking back, it's because I didn't rate Sonic on the Megadrive either! My fond memories of Sonic all stem from the Game Gear versions, which were made by different devs and play more like a traditional platformers. To give credit where due tho - it looks great and if you like that type of game, you'll love it.

Not a big fan of Sonic either. After Minecraft my only Switch digital purchase regret.

Always been a Nintendo fan and had the Nes/Snes/64 and gamecube as a kid so I missed all the Sega consoles but even when I played it at mates homes, it just didnt do anything for me. Cant understand the blind love a lot of people show it and even nostalgia cant be that strong that can it?

Hi,

I'm really tempted to pick up a switch, BOTW and Mario Odyssey look up my street, but I'm concerned there's a lack of other games that will float my boat. Most other titles I've seem either too 'indie' or niche for my tastes. I'm not expecting big AAA titles, but something a little more...?

Am I looking in the wrong place at the switch?

(FWIW it's the mobile aspect of the switch that appeals to me).

What kind of games do you like playing? Add Mario Kart to Odyssey and BOTW and your set for months of fun!

I was skeptical if I would like BOTW, I like open world but it never sticks with me. BOTW so far has blown me away, looks incredible, story is pulling me in, lots of fun. The only thing that will stop this being GOTY is odyssey.

I expect 2018 to be the big awakening of the switch, there online system plus virtual console (gamecube??) will be big winners. 2K games are on board in a big way too so we should see quite a few AAA titles, or versions of.

If you are a fan of Nintendo there will be (or already are) plenty of titles you will enjoy. Theres Rabbids,Mariokart, Mario, Zelda, Disgea, Splatoon,Fifa and loads of good indies out like Shovel knight and then theres Zenoblade out in December and plenty coming next year like Wolfenstein and Doom. Thats literally 1000's of hours there.

Its just another Nintendo console, be that good or bad depending on your love of Nintendo, so expect the usual first party titles. There seems to be a lot of third party titles and good indies as well now though for a change.

To be honest I usually stick to the usual crowd of fps or 3rd person AAA games - mainly because they're the most accessible to get into. I haven't had a Nintendo since the SNES :p

Then this really isn't the console for you.

Splatoon is one of the best multiplayer shooters though.

It's probably not for you then. Its a Nintendo system and its more of the same only now you can play it in handheld as well.

Not meaning that to sound derogatory either mind, I love Nintendo but at this point people pretty much know what they are all about.

This is what I'm torn on, it's not that I'm specifically after AAA style games; I just want something easy to get into and less niche. BOTW looks amazing, I already have RIME on PC and enjoy that but don't always get the time to sit down on a PC to play, hence wanting something I can pick up more casually. On the flip side, stuff like Stardew Valley and Golf Story aren't really my cup of tea.

Theres plenty of stuff to like dude. Mario and Zelda alone are both 10/10 games and then theres Mario vs Rabbids which is quite a deep "xcom" like game. Mariokart and Fifa are there as well plus loads more. Personally I love it and it can be as pick up and play or as serious as you want.

You should probably wait for Doom and Wolfenstein to be released, but avoid purchasing them on other platforms first.
