*** Nintendo Switch ***

They don't have any reason to make a more powerful system. They're flying off the shelves as it is.
Yup. It's not exactly struggling to sell.

If anything it would just annoy the existing owners.

If they released a more powerful version in a few years that would make more sense to me.

The Tegra X1 exploit seems a pretty good reason to produce a new version of the console. From what I gather, the exploit is not fixable and the patch applied to recently manufactured units is akin to a band aid on a bullet wound. The X2 doesn't have the same flaw.

Don't think it's a big enough deal? People are currently downloading from eShop without paying. So they're not just stealing games; they're making Nintendo pay for the bandwidth. Nintendo is on a bit of a crusade at the moment, suing and shutting down anything related to piracy, going back as far as the NES. So I don't think upgrading the Switch to combat its current problems is necessarily out of the question.

I thought I read something about a patched chip but with the same hardware specs?

If that was the case. They could just swap over to the revised hardware and need not advertise because there would be little benefit to doing so.

Or was this not the case? RE the patched chip.

That's a very different topic.

The chip can be redesigned to fix the problem and Nvidia would likely be paying that bill. They have no need to increase the production costs with a more powerful chip just to fix a flaw with the current one.

The only issues I see with the dock is that if you don't have a screen protector it can scratch the screen and its expensive for what it is.

Otherwise it's fine. Anyone complaining about heat issues, I've not actually seen a Switch break due to heat yet, and it's got built-in thermal protection. Spawn Wave did a good thread where he had to disconnect the internal fan to get it to shut down due to overheating.

Mine sits on top of my AV Receiver in a generally hotter climate than the UK. No issues here.

I have screen protector on my switch but i worry about temps,so I tried the usb-C method which kree method a few post back. Now it worked great,I had no problems at all with exception I wasn't able to use the pdp wired controllers.

Would it reassure you to know a few weeks back when it was 46C outside and stifling hot in my apartment I played DOOM docked for about 11 hours straight? :p

Fans were running full whack. Console is fine.

And I have a dock sock on as well. Which adds to heat. Yes it gets warm but no warmer than any computer/laptop with crap cooling.

So the rumoured direct is an indie focused one? I am OK with this :)

Also I am reading about New Super Mario Bros. U coming. I don't know anything about it. Was it decent?
