*** Nintendo Switch ***

I'm collecting points for the arms getter but not sure who to main yet - who's everyone preferring so far?

I find it hard to go with the most popular characters even if they are seen as the best, prefer a bit of a challenge, even if it is more painful learning them. :)

Grats Phate!, on both counts :)

Hah I'm not sure how many ranks there are but I'd guess 7 isn't that high. You don't lose many points for a loss at lower ranks (gaining significantly more for a win typically). Definitely noticed the gain is slower at Rank 6 and 7 though.

Headlock at Level 4 Grand Prix took a few tries for me, and I lost a couple of matches in earlier stages. I didn't have too much trouble with it but it's definitely not easy, especially if jumping straight into it. I also played a several hours of the Beta so already had a feel for things.

I read on GAF that max rank is 15 not sure if that's confirmed. Hedlok took me 6-8 goes wasn't too bad once I knew how to avoid. He wrecked me plenty though.

Congrats on getting your Switch (and getting married) Phate, which version is it? I'm doubtful it's the Neon one, only because it's out of stock almost everywhere.

Started Disgaea 5 Complete as I bought it out of pure curiosity and it seems pretty good so far, doesn't drain the battery much also as it's hardly pushing the Switch. This should keep me busy on the commute for a while :)

What sort of game is Disgaea? I can't quite tell, if it's a tiled strategy game in the vein of Fire Emblem, then it ought to be good.

Anyhows, I took the hit and ordered the expensive import of the Japanese Switch bundle. Except it changed from £ to € at the last minute and now I'm paying £20 extra due to conversion (despite it showing £399 in GBP initially). I checked the FAQ and they should accept GBP, so I've sent them a customer service message to see if I can get it changed.

Edit: I've looked up reviews of the site and they aren't great at communication, but usually get the products shipped within time. I hope I've not screwed myself with this decision.

Nintendos attention to detail amazes me .. just noticed that when I slide the yellow joy cons back into the console , the little symbol that pops up on the side of the screen has a yellow line through it ...

Same with the Neon ones :)

I sat for ages plugging and unplugging them :p

It's quite like Fire Emblem in the way it plays, it's all organise your troops, execute attacks, end turn, enemy goes and so on. There is a lot going on however so I'm finding it a tad overwhelming at present but when you're in the combat scenarios it's fun enough. Will spend more time with it this week to try and establish what I really think of it.

Aww man, now you're making me wish I ordered the Neon one... get's me wondering whether the place I ordered from actually has any allocation or am I going to find out in late August that I have to cancel my order cos they didn't have any? Meh, worst case scenario I then buy one in October for my brother's birthday, with an extra pair of neon Joycons and then nick the red ones for when I eventually decide to buy another one for myself (gotta be a special one, like this one I've pre-ordered!). Having a pair of Red Joycons is a big deal for me... I had the red 3DS.

So I had a quick go at ranked play on Arms and I love it. Win some lose some but the fighting is so much closer. This is where I'll spend my time from now on I think.

Ah, interesting if true. I can see them increasing the max rank with the updates that are coming. They'll probably be collecting data for match results at max rank so they can determine the best value to increment it by.

ARMS will apparently be getting a chunk of backstory added with the free updates too. Story isn't something I really care much for in this type of game (or in games generally, personally) but it will be a nice addition nonetheless, giving some context to the world/AU and characters at least.

I don't know who that is and I watched it with the sound off but even on easy that guy is the worst player. He doesn't charge his shot once. Stay charged!
