*** Nintendo Switch ***

It's £42 on Zavi, but with a voucher code can get it for £38.60

Thanks for the tip. Still kind of more than I'm comfortable spending on it so will hold off for now until it drops a bit.

The price of switch games is starting to grate on me. I'm to used to buying PC games for £20-30 on release on Steam CD key sites!

Get used to that. Nintendo games are pricey and hold value. You tend to get what you pay for, though - at least with 1st party stuff. 3rd party is a whole different ball game!

Even second hand at places like GAME and CeX the prices are still in line with retail. So yeah if you want it you've just got to suck it up.

Luckily for me each of the retail games I've bought have given me 100's of hours so they're actually pretty decent value. Splatoon 2 will have a ton of modes plus the single player. I think it will definitely be another one with many, many hours worth of play. If I get over 40 hours play time out of any game then I feel that I've more than got my moneys worth.

I think the review embargo for Splatoon 2 ends today.

I never played splatoon or really looked into it. What type of game is it... What's the aim. All I've seen is looks like they are shooting paint.

Got my switch yesterday with just Zelda and was looking into Mario kart next.... Or would splatoon 2 be better?

Also unsure if to buy digitally. I like the idea of not carrying carts around ...and like digital on pc. But Nintendo games are expensive and keep their value. If I ever decided to sell on... I cant sell the games with it if digital as far as I know

Outside of Turf War which I played last weekend I don't know an awful lot about it. Basically it's a territorial third-person shooter. It's fast, very tactical (if you want it to be) and a lot of fun.

I'm definitely getting it. It looks like a blast! Healthy mixture of tactics, skill and just plain genuine fun. Plus the single player campaign and co-op stuff is a big seller for me as well.

Do people know. Can say 2 people play locally on one Switch and then join a big online match?

I am really tempted by splatoon 2 but I don't know how much I would play online. I used to love playing things like zombies on COD so it would be great to get a few mates together and play some of the salmon run and other modes.

A local store, FNAC. Are having a 72hr promotion on Mario Kart bringing it down from €55 to €45. Also the same store is doing a pre-order promotion of Splatoon 2, bringing it down from €60 to €50....

Can I spend €95 in one week on games...is that healthy?!

Good move I think pre-buying for Christmas, with the crazy lines in Japan I can not see the stock getting any better I think the main problem is a flash shortage in supply chains if that is the case not sure what Nintendo can do here

Absolutely.

Agreed. Splatoon is to FPS games what Mario Kart is to racers.

How did you find the motion controls on the Switch? I found it really jarring vs the Wii U. Feel like the missing screen somehow didn't click as well.

Sure - I blew like £200+ on Amazon Prime day on crap I didn't really need in the first place. At least with games you are spending on stuff you already know you want and intend to use

You have to put them on max sensitivity and play with the joycons separated (so just the right hand aims). Without doing both of these it was a mess.

So I picked up a case & joy con grips mainly for protection whilst commuting. I have the OZRLY hard shell case & screen protector and having been impressed with their stuff so far, I looked to see what they had.

First up, the grips. (excuse the cat hair in the photos, my sofa is like a magnet for it)

The fit and feel is really nice! They add some booty to the joy con and despite my small hands, it makes them feel much better when handheld, both on the console and off. They clip on at the top and slide onto the bottom. It would have been nicer if they were more secure around the bottom but its not like they come off easily so this is a minor thing for me.

Next up, the case. This is easy to put on and off via a velcro flap. It's got a suede like feel to it and instantly reminded me of the Amazon Kindle cases.

Also it gives more options for kickstanding, more support as well

Overall, I am really pleased with the combo. With both fitted it all goes in the hard shell with an Anker 20100 and short USB-C cable so its pretty much covered now wherever I go!

With the grips the + & - are a little more restrictive but I thought this would be the case anyway and have mostly gotten used to it now. £18 well spent :)

The new switch app is out for iOS / Android guys. Seems like a ridiculous thing to have for a modern console but hey ho.

For when it's on the go, it makes sense to me, well rather I can see why they're going down that route. But for when docked at home?

Just wish it were optional or more advanced :(
