*** Nintendo Switch ***

Glad to hear you're enjoying that. It will likely easy a few people's minds about it. :)

It does look great. But those turn based games have never quite done it for me. I'll see how it reviews and go from there :)

Still engorged in Zelda...100 hours now...

Just ordered mario rabids and about to order a switch. Are there any other accessories that are recommended to get?

Orzly screen protector, travel case in case you want to cart the Switch around, a secondary charger for it, Pro controller and if like me your Switch can barely pick up wifi from a room away, grab any usb 3 gigabit network adapter.

Send it to Nintendo to get the WiFi chip sorted out :)

Loving Sonic Mania, reminds me how much I liked Sonic back in the day, I'd actually be willing to pay for a "Sonic Allstars" compilation for the Switch, Sonic 1,2,3,Sonic & Knuckles, etc

Is that a thing they are doing for the WiFi issues?

If I am in the room with the router its fine, I go upstairs to the bedroom (above the room with the router) I get no signal. Tbh, I have it wired now and hooked up to the gaming monitors, same with the PS4. PS4 gets a signal, is this an official return from Nintendo and they will accept it for the WiFi, only had the thing a few weeks and seeing the posts above with Nintendo accounts not being swapped over to new hardware if they swap it etc.

Nintendo had a large batch of "iffy" wifi chips, which could affect connectivity to the Joy-cons and the Wifi as well. I sent mine off and they tested it and found no issue but fixed a joy con. Got the whole thing back in a week. Very fast process tbh.

You can state to them when you log the repair that if it comes to the unit being swapped that you don't want them to proceed if you're worried. But I've heard of people getting new units and Nintendo helping them move data across.

I'll have a word with Nintendo support and see what the deal is, it sees 5g just, 2.4 is a no go if over 10ft away. However not had a single issue with the joy cons, the controllers are constant and never seen to cut out, using the pro controller when in docked mode.

Well the Switch I ordered from Nin-Nin-Game.com doesn't show as dispatched, despite Monster Hunter XX Switch Ver releasing last week. Their website claims they have it in stock and I've just visited their FB page where they even posted they have it in stock there (however I couldn't read the comments on the post as that POS site was being unresponsive).

No doubt an imported item will take time to ship, but the order status needs to at least say it's in the process. I'll give them until the end of the week. They don't allow cancellations directly, it requires contacting them and they tend usually not to reply. On the plus side I paid via Paypal, so worse case scenario, I'll have to cancel and get a refund via Paypal. I'd prefer not to cancel, especially as searching around shows no stock of Neon Switches or Neon Joycons (which I would have ordered instead) and obtaining a digital copy of MHXX is trickier than it seems (PlayAsia ran out of eShop codes to sell). I'm not too fussed or impatient to get it any time soon, thoug it would be nice to have it before Mario Odyssey/Xenoblade release.

It's kinda silly that these stock shortages are so bad atm. Considering the popularity of Neon Switch/Joyconns and the fact that Joycons aren't affected by flash chip shortages, one would have thought they'd make be producing more Neon ones?

I was thinking the same thing this morning. At least if you do buy a Switch game and decide you don't like it the trade in value stays high for longer than with most games.

I'm still too much into Splatoon to buy anything else right now. I am going on holiday end of September so I might get it then.

Looks like the retailer sorted out their issues, it's been dispatched and is due to arrive on Friday. Excitement resumed.

I've also found these cool things on Amazon, not sure if they've been posted here yet. Anyone who has a Grey Switch and regrets not getting a Neon one, you have a second chance:

Currently the selection is limited, but you can change both the actual Switch tablet casing itself, as well as the Joycon casings. These do take some effort to put together though and the buttons are the trickiest bit to put on as they usually have a bit of plastic sticking out that needs to be filed down or cut off somehow (according to reviews). I recommend having a driver set with tri-wing drivers (I've got the iFixit ProTech Toolkit, which has all the drivers required). Here's a couple of video guides for them:

Makes a whole lot of sense where all the multicoloured Switches are coming from now... I'll definitely order one of these, though I would prefer one for red colour joycons, the red/gold combo looks right up my alley too.

Is your alley super tacky? :D

I've seen these casings. There is a set which turns he joy cons white and makes the buttons RBGY like the SNES. Was very tempted to order (it's less than £20) and would give me something a bit unique in terms of Switch looks. However I was put off by the fact that when the joycons being held sideways the colours would not match on each side and moments like this drive my OCD insane :p

The shell casings do look cool though. Very tempting :)

But Mahius, isn't the MHXX special edition have its own custom casing of sorts?

I'm looking to buy my son a Switch for his Birthday in September - where is the best to buy the console? Are they still selling for above RRP cost?

The games he wants are Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Pokken Tournament (which I will buy on release)

Thanks :)

Order from Amazon or Nintendo UK for accurate pricing and wait. Otherwise chance it at local supermarkets etc.
