*** Nintendo Switch ***

I'm curious what this looks like now :p.

It's really difficult to photograph with a phone:

That's just a stand, not a dock.

I 3D printed my own and I use Nintendo's own hardware in it:

No way am I taking risks frying my Switch and losing my save data with the reported issues with third party docks.

As a bonus my fans run a lot slower with that dock. I think it's because the vents on the back are not restricted like they are with the official dock.

Looks really well done and had me considering until I remembered I have a 3 year old daughter and it looks like she'd be able to knock it off too easily on this version.

Great if you don't have kids though.

Does it use the spring mechanism, Kree? If it doesn't I'd recommend redesigning/using another design it to incorporate it as I've heard those 3rd party docks without it can end up damaging the USB-C connector when docking it.

Of course it does :)

What it doesn't use is the two guide pins but that's redundant anyway with the rear groove and it's very stable.

I purchased an extension lead and stand for mine. You plug the extension into the dock and then just plug the usb into the switch to charge or use in docked mode. Really simple but works well with no scratching...

Anyone gonna bother getting wwe? I'm tempted just for some smackdown 2 nostalgia from the ps days :D

That's if I can play anything other then xenoblades though going to get properly stuck into that over the weekend hopefully!

I havent played a wresting game since Revenge / No Mercy on N64 :D, I've heard good things about the recent 2K games though.

I practically lived in Alrest (XB2's world) this past weekend :). The game may have some minor quality/usability issues but the core game mechanics, general content and story are very solid, it's definitely on the level of the previous 2 games imo.
It'd be cool if they could release a patch to polish some things up a bit, but XB2 will be the only single player game I play for a while regardless. (EDIT: with the exception of Zelda expansion...)

EDIT2: WWE 2K18 apparently a bit of a rough port (performance issues). Devs say they are working on fixes.

What made yous choose the switch over the PS4/Xbone, looking at getting something to reinstate my love for gaming....
The games, Zelda as a launch title was fantastic. Sunk over 100 hours in and it flew by.

It offers games you can't get elsewhere. For me though I would say it's a nice complement to another system or pc, I think if I only had the switch I would feel a bit left behind on certain titles. That said the library has gone from strength to strength.

Shows 4k doesn't make a game good

Games and portability.
I've never owned a Nintendo console at launch but was sucked in by the Zelda hype, but in honestly it's been the smaller, more unexpected games that also make this a great bit of kit, Rocket League, Stardew Valley to mention a couple.

Also all those outstanding AAA games, Zelda, Mario Kart, Mario Odyssey, Skyrim and Splatoon are just awesome.

However the best not is being able to plug the thing in and then just pick it up out of the dock and keep on playing.

I should add I also have a PS4 Pro (which i don't play in 4K) and mainly just play COD WW2, FIFA and Gran Turismo but despite owning Skyrim on PS4 (bought in a sale) I find it easier just picking up the Switch.

It fits my lifestyle. I am on the move a lot. Typically fly 10-20 times a year. I don't get much time to sit in front of a TV and play. But yesterday when I arrived at the airport...

And not to mention on the plane as well. :)

That and I like 1st party Nintendo titles.

So cool. I've not actually seen people using one in the wild yet but I don't really use public transport etc. I'd certainly take mine on a plane trip in 2018.

I've brought it along to work once, and did play it at lunch but we only get half hour so to eat and play in that time isn't quite worth it

Thinking about it, I've hardly touched my PS4 ever since I got the Switch, Nintendo's titles for this year has been extremely great. I've noticed my PC gaming habits have dropped to more casual games as well.

I have a PC, so XBOne and PS4 don't offer me anything of interest - I don't buy prebuilt PCs, just because someone calls them a PS or XBone doesn't make them any more tempting. IF I want to play a game with fancy graphics, my PC will do that so the main selling point of the consoles is obsolete to me.

The Switch has flexibility which is a real seller, ironically I have not even used mine in portable mode so far (had the thing for 5 months) yet that is still the selling point because I can and will eventually - I have flights coming up which will make it essential. Even small things people don't think about make its portability great - waiting on wife getting her hair cut? Waiting for the kids to come out of school? Sat in the Doctors Office waiting room? Taking a bus to town? All these little things that suck up time in our lives (pretty much the reason crap like Candy Crush is popular) suddenly you are playing top quality games and you almost look forward to them instead of reluctantly accepting them.

As others have said the pick up and play is amazing. Just if you have a quick half hour to pick up and play your on in like a second and it doesn't matter where you are as it's portable :D I have a ps4 and I literally haven't touched it since the switch came out I've just been hammering the switch and the pc ... also the aaa titles are world class imo

Possibly, depends if it has all of the classic characters - I had a quick look at current wrestlers and I don't know any of them!
