*** Nintendo Switch ***

The hybrid concept is truly brilliant. Being able to have a traditional console which you can take to bed with it is just amazing.
Yeah ok, it's not 4k HDR blah blah blah blah, but it's just really good fun.

To be honest, once you add motion into a game and any sort of action the resolution issue is out of the window for me. MarioKart 8 looks amazing and at a steady 60fps it looks stunning on my 4k TV. For content like films I can appreciate 4k but for fast paced games the action and gameplay always makes resolution a bit immaterial after a point.

I completed it and swore a lot. It's a shame it's not a double pack with both modern dk games in it.

I can imagine you did , I didn't even really get to the tough bits I don't think and I was still swearing , especially at the boss that's in like a half pipe haha

Completely agree , rocket league for instance when it first came to switch the resolution in hand held was really bad (think it's greatly improved through updates) but as soon as the match started I immediately forgot about it as I was just focusing on the action

Switch is going to make me broke! i will be getting

Kirby, Donkey Kong, Toad, ACES, Smash Bros, Octopath Traveler and Yoshi if it comes, now where is our F-Zero and Pikmin!

As someone who didn't own a Wii U, this year looks somewhat excellent. Plenty to keep my Boomerang list full. I'll buy Smash Bros, Mario Tennis Aces, and whichever of Metroid/Pokémon completes the 2018 line-up.

Still got Xenoblade, Arms, and Fire Emblem Warriors to catch up on from last year.

TBH I'm starting to think Nintendo will double dip with some of the big franchises this generation. Most of them have been released, announced, or at least teased already. What's left? Starfox? There's plenty of other good franchises, but I can't think of any that can really stand alongside Mario/Zelda/Pokémon/Metroid/Mario Kart/Smash Bros.

A Pikmin game would be nice. MK8D is massively popular everywhere I wonder if we'll see 9 this gen.

I've never played a tennis game before but Mario Tennis Aces looks like it could be a lot of fun.

I am happy that -
A) I never bought South Park: TFBW on PC now it's coming to the Switch
B) Super Smash Bro's is coming to the Switch.

I am unhappy that I now need to invest in 4 Pro controllers so that when I (inevitably) beat my friends they have no excuses.

Switch supports GameCube controllers, which are better than the pro pad for Smash Bros.

God knows if I could find my stash of gamecube controllers. Would have to search in my Mothers attic. I had 3 original ones and a Mad Catz 3rd party one which was actually really nice at the time, it was a bit smaller than the standard pads. Used to love juggling people with the C stick

I have been meaning to get the Pro pad for a while though.

Nintendo are officially back, words going round that they might over take Microsoft in the console market, second against Sony.

Nintendo are steaming ahead :)

*Cue the Super Mario Star Theme*

Yeah I love Tennis games, I'll be picking up Aces for sure and playing the upcoming demo tournament if I can.
I even bought Mario Tennis Ultra Smash on Wii U (for £9.50 delivered!). I had some fun with it's local multiplayer but it was very bare-bones, they obviously cut it's development short to work on Aces.

I've been thinking more about the Smash Bros reveal and I'm almost certain now this will be more than a port/deluxe version of Smash 4, for a few reasons:
  • There's nothing in the reveal to indicate it's a port
  • The reveal trailer was quite exciting, for it to end up as simply Smash 4 with some new stuff wouldn't make much sense (MK8D, Pokken Deluxe, DKTF etc had simple 'here it is' reveals)
  • Masahiro Sakurai (director of Smash Bros series) mentioned in 2016 that he was working on his new project, and he's just confirmed now that he's working on Smash Switch (that's a long time for a port!)
  • The core Smash Bros community/fanbase is quite large, and being very passionate about the series wouldn't respond well to a Smash 4 Deluxe release
  • The 'Super Smash Bros.' logo has only changed a little across the last few entries, shown at the end of the trailer however is another design of the logo that we haven't seen before.
  • Highlighting BotW Link in the trailer means he's probably a brand new character mechanically, not just a skin
  • Inklings also revealed as new characters in the first reveal trailer, with several more character announcements inevitable it seems there's going to be a significant number of additions to the roster.

This is not to say it's going to be a complete overhaul of the series or anything, I'm sure they will take from, improve and build upon Smash 4 (because it was amazing), as they did with the previous games to their predecessors (to varying success *cough*Brawl*cough*). Smash Bros is quite an iterative series anyway, they kinda got it right the first time.

I hope I'm not wrong as Smash 4 Deluxe would be a little disappointing. Regardless, by next year I might finally be able to disconnect my Wii U :D

My wife and I have collectively put 80+ hrs into Stardew Valley. She's into year 2 spring and I'm approaching end of winter year 1.

My god this is a good game :D
