cheers. rather disappointing, but to be expected. it's such a tasks for this game due to the way it's generated. the fact you can destroy and area, walk away and come back and it all not saved is telling at just how impossible it is for multiplayer as the information just is too much, and the storage of that information isn't there to then be shared between players. great shame. will hold out purchasing for now

This is so much better, loving the extra work that's been put into this. Almost feels and looks like a new game.
I wish I saw it before to compare!

Did it have this sort of quest structure originally? Just built a hyper drive but now I need fuel and it's not really suggesting where to get that :D I guess I just find it on a planet?

there was no questing. It was just a sandbox with a little lore filler on interaction with entities

Oh crazy. I like a bit of guidance so this is better. Still has a bit of jank but for the price I think it's a good 'one of these' games. Will be better once i understand it more. Invertory space needs increasing asap :D

My friend purchased the game at launch and genuinely seemed to enjoy it, however after about 9 hours he became disinterested. He refuses to acknowledge that it has changed significantly since then, and won't give it the time of day! Unfortunately he got caught up in the controversy, and now he spouts the same rhetoric that everyone else does.

I put 50+ hours into No Man's Sky, and loved every minute of it. The recent update is the icing on the cake, and the game has finally reached the point where it resembles a finished product.

Admittedly, Hello Games have made some mistakes in terms of communication, pricing etc. I'm not glossing over their shortcomings, however I'm objective enough to appreciate what they've accomplished on a technical level.

It certainly has more going for it than your average linear shooter!

This is why I wanted to buy it for myself all this time, so I can make up my own mind. I'll admit before I was one of the people that put the game down and looking back, having not played it, that was silly.

From what I played last night, early doors, it has promise for a relaxing fame that I can potter around in at my own pace. Though it looks to have some depth too. Doesn't seem to hold your hand too much. I guess after all these sort of tutorial type objectives the game cuts you loose to get to the centre of the galaxy?

Only disappointment at the moment is the controller feels really weird so I'll look for a fix or hope to get some advice here, otherwise it's fine I'll just play with the mouse.

I guess starting planet can be super random too, mine was a bit dull but found all I needed and left asap :D

At times it's pretty ugly but then others I had to whip the screenshot camera out! Can have some nice scenes

Go to nomansskymods.com, plenty of mods there which sort out the look of the game. First thing first is the chromatic Aberation + lines removal (the horrible crap at the top of the screen).

I decieded to buy again, getting into it this time. I tried to install the mod for removing chromatic aberation but it doesn't appear to have worked, I got the new version that says it runs on Atlas update.

I also just ran across a broken ship and I took it, it's a class B shuttle. Will cost money to unlock all the inventory but I figured it was worth it.

EDIT: Doh...didn't spot the file names disablemods.txt

I thought my mod didn't seem to look much different lol so do I need to delete another file to get it going?

Yeah in the PCBANKS folder is a file called DISABLEMODS.TXT, I renamed it and the mod now loads, the install guide for the chromatic removal said to also delete GAMEDATA/SHADERCACHE which I did before loading up the game. When you load up you will get a warning about mods if you've done it right.

If you want to use mods, remove DISABLEMODS.TXT

"
*If this file exists, no mod banks will be loaded.*

If you are modding the game, please don't modify any of the bank files in the folder this file lives in (PCBANKS). These are the banks No Man's Sky ships with, and modifying them makes it impossible for the game to detect if you have a corrupted installation.

Any mod banks should go into a subfolder of PCBANKS, called MODS. All banks in MODS will be mounted when the game starts up.

Banks in the MODS folder are loaded additively, over the top of the banks shipped in No Man's Sky, and given priority over the shipping files. This allows a mod bank to replace any files in the shipping game, or add new ones."
