No Man's Sky - Procedural space game

Played for about six hours, ended when I swapped for damaged ship ( thought I was swapping out parts, not the whole ship), to make matters worse the old ship just disappeared so my game is over, I'm stranded.

I won't be playing this again.

Exactly what happened to me. Loaded up a previous save and only lost 30 mins. No longer looking for abandoned ships just in case.

Got a 37 slot ship right now but loads still to be repaired.

I've read online that this never used to be an issue, the old ship used to remain where you left it. Shame because I was quite enjoying the game, playing for another 8 hours just to get to the same point doesn't appeal to me though, that's the length of a lot of modern games.

Should be able to find a flyable ship/be able to get one flyable with a bit of exploring - I was running into them fairly frequently when I played though it was touch and go once after I swapped without thinking it through and I had to hunt out some parts to be able to fly or something I can't remember the exact details now but I remember the planet I was on was short of something and it took me awhile.

if u find an abandoned ship .. if you get it but dont swap and when u got back to yer freighter it will be in the dock ... then fix the engine enough to get to a space station and trade it for another ship

For crashed ships that you find, just claim it as another, fly to your freighter in your current working ship, and then save and reload the game.

When you rejoin it will be in your freighter too. Just wait for another ship you want to land and trade it in for that. No need to repair anything on it the then and you still get a shiny new ship.

Not quite in the spirit of the game, but the amount of resource and time needed to fix a damaged ship is ridiculous.

[Edit] As previous poster said, though now need to fly to a space station really... no point wasting a single resource when other ships land on you freighter already.

That's exactly what I've been doing! Most crashed ships are too expensive or time consuming to repair, so I just restore their ability to fly, and then exchange them at a space station for a ship of a similar value.

I've only found one so far. It was a decent upgrade to what I had so I took it. The damaged trade value was about 4 million, but fixed up it's worth 27 million. I've been fixing it up over the last few days and I finished last night.

Fixing them can be a decent option as there is no way I could afford to buy a 27 million ship at this stage, so it's a decent early game boost for me.

Had a pretty good session last night, managed to trade the freighter I rescued for a slightly better one for less than 3 million credits, then found a really good B class fighter with 37 inventory slots and 11 technology slots so swapped out my starter ship and all of my credits for that.
Saw my first exotic ship as well, though it only had 19 slots and was way too expensive to buy.

Just need to find a nice planet with not too many sentinels for a decent base.
At the moment I seem to be in an system where they're all really aggro... one of the planets has them frenzied as well.

Purchased on Friday, racked up 15 hours over the weekend I think :D haha

Enjoying it, only had one frustrating part where I warped to a system and immediately got attacked by pirates, really need to get better weapons on my ship!

So, yesterday's highlights included finding a beautiful Earth-like planet, (not quite as nice as the one I built my base on), finding an S-class fighter at a trading post, and being pushed around by a group of fat, sheepy-type dinosaur things and ending up falling down a cliff into the water.

In other news, managed to park my ship on the side of a hill at a jaunty angle, hopped out, and strangely found myself in a totally sealed cave. Managed to blast my way back to the surface some 250 clicks from my ship. Had a feeling it was restart time, but got away with it!

I've gone full farmer at the moment trying to get that quest done so I can grow some of the plants I can't find in my system, I'm going to need an awful lot more copper and ferrite dust lol.

Use your scanner to find buried techonology (sort of looks like a wifi symbol), then you turn those in at the blueprint machine and use the points to unlock more building parts.
From what I can tell, as you unlock things it'll show more new things to unlock.

Guys...you dont need to repair ships totally. When you find a big ship with loads of damaged modules, just repair what you need to take off and return to the space station. There you can then trade that excellent ship with loads of damaged inventory space but for top value for a shiny brand new ship WITH ALL ITS MODULES WORKING, no repairs needed and you've made a 20million pound ship with god knows how much grinding resources saved.

I really think they need to patch that so there's a moderate penalty for trading a ship with tons of damaged parts, otherwise it sort of defeats the point of having broken modules.

How do you farm?
I can't seem to find the nessacery blueprints to build anything.
Still only have basic wood stuff
When you made a base, you will get access to build specialist terminals I think they're called and one is an agricultural terminal which you will need to get a Gek to look after from a space station. They'll then give you little missions to grow certain plants and they'll give you the seeds to grow them. Once grown, you keep the seeds as sort of blueprints and then you can grow all sorts of various plants

I summoned my ship that I was repairing, went to space to launch my freighter but could not do it on planet, off planet, in empty space and now I can't re summon the broken ship? What do I do.
