No Man's Sky - Procedural space game

It's a shame the performance is still a steaming pile of something. Even brute forcing it with 1080ti or Vega 64 at 1440p is an absolute mess. I can get drops lower than 40fps on some planets, when you think of how average the game looks you shouldn't be having any problems getting 100fps and higher. OpenGL is the problem I think, if only this was a DX11 title, that's what kills the experience for me.

While i had this in the past, i dont suffer anymore. I dont seem to get the large frame rate drops and stutter i used to.
I dont tend to have anything else running in the background like chrome etc as i found it caused issues. Also at one point it ran smoother in fullscreen window mode.

Galaxy's or systems? Up to now all I've done is warp between systems. Just discovered first portal, or are the portals the gates between galaxy's? (it a great game, but very much, work it all out for yourself..:))

255 Galaxies each with billions of systems.. basically you son's son ^10 could probably play this game and not visit every planet.

If those numbers are correct? Simply wandering around, you might never bump into another player...? It's a cool game. I'm by no means a "gamer" of any description, but I'm enjoying NMS more than anything I've played in ages.

If you want exact numbers here you go: This is the number of planets in the game. According to the developer it would take 584 billion years to travel to each of them if you were discovering them at 1 every second.

18,446,744,073,709,551,616

Strangely enough I think this is the price of the I7-9900k as well.

LOL. I'm gonna need a bigger ship.... Think I'm only around 22-24 hours in, so it's still holding my interest as yet. I started again after inadvertently deleting a base. (I though you were allowed to move the base computer.)

Typical how this game goes lol

Thought i would start a new game, and play through the intro again, and put into practice what i have learnt. Within about 30 mins of playing i had already found a B class frigate, which was better than any ship i found for ages the 1st time around, and within 2 hrs, i had a S class rifle!!!, 230 hrs in on other game and i still have an A class rifle!!! :P

LOL, it is somewhat varied (which is a good thing) I've re-started a couple of times and twigged it's a reasonably random spot you start in. Some planets are properly gnarly right from the off, while others not so much. This time through I seem to be struggling way more to generate credits. Still struggling to break a million.
