No Man's Sky - Procedural space game

Not worth £40 not even worth £10 its just a massive empty sandbox. All the gfx are poor & the FPS is beyond a joke the lag is all over the place.

Whoever designed the gamepad UI needs a new job that's terrible to hold the button down & have the weird floaty cursor!

Bizarre design choices all it has going for it is the large gameworld. Everything else screams indie low budget development.

Overhyped & Overpriced. At least Steam give refunds for less than 2 hours gameplay. That is all you need to know its not a £39.99 product.

For £10 few could argue but its marketed & sold as a £39.99 product so fully deserves all the negativity its going to attract.

Don't know if it's an extreme coincidence or not (and this will sound funny), but I've felt like crap since playing it and I've felt fine all day so far. I think I'll give it another try in the morning and see how I get on.

You know what, I could swear I've got a headache since playing and I was only on for an hour......

Runs well for me, really enjoying it atm, don't think I'll refund it as the story seems pretty good so far.

Was pretty much what I was expecting to be fair, can't wait for it to be rift compatible.

ah well, put in for a refund. Its just not a £40 game. I'll pick it up again at the inevitable xmas sale where it might have been patched up a little. There is a good relaxing timesink of a game in there somewhere at a more sensible price.

Runs perfectly fine for me at 3440x1440.....game is fun and chilled, so many people just love to hate it...possibly because of the price...but I'm having fun and its very atmospheric....think if they update it regularly it, it will turn out to be pretty good.

I do want to play it. But the amount of people experiencing issues is holding me back for now.

I've literally had to force myself off this, I'm having a blast. I've basically spent 4 hours on my starting planet. I'm like a magpie, I keep telling myself, ooh I'll go to space, then I see something else :)

Just got onto planet 2 and pretty much cannot get to my objective for the distractions :D

Having a rest while the AMD drivers install. Getting anywhere between 40-60fps so can't complain. No stutters. AA enabled again, but still some jaggies.

Finding it hard going completing a planet and haven't left the first system yet. The scale of the environment is impressive and the landscapes are incredibly diverse.

Will have to force myself to bed. Too much to do, too much to see!

Is it what you wanted? I know it's what I wanted for the years I've followed it.

From what I've played, I'm glad there is no multiplayer, it's REALLY not needed :)

Mileage varies apparently. People with GTX 1080s have been experiencing performance issues.

Running it at 1080p on my laptop (GTX970m). Only on medium but seems to run okay. It certainly isn't optimised though as 1080s should max this game.

From what I have seen so far, exactly what I wanted. Could do with a bit of polish here and there, but it sounds like they will continue to work on it.

I wouldn't want multiplayer in this.

Every world I go to has the wow factor in some way. It must be one hell of an equation that generates all of this.

I am going to lose many an hour to this!

What gets me most are the sounds and atmosphere, I wasn't expecting that aspect to be so good. The loneliness of some planets really does have an impact on me.

Good to see steam reviews go from negative to mixed now. It doesn't deserve such a bashing. Obviously I get the technical issues, but once in it is one hell of an achievement.

OK...without admitting to eating my words too early, I decided to give it ago.

I like it so far. Performance was an issue at the start...like low 30s fps..but a few changes here and there, and running the nvidia control panel thing, and i'm hitting 70fps all the time now.

It's certainly not like any other game i've played before. I just don't know what to do. 90 mins in...do i...dont i???!

I adjusted the FOV to 140 (i think, it's hard to tell) using the notepad edit i posted a few pages back.

I wonder if the initial poor perfomance has anything to do with the algorithms / calculations taking place? Surely not.

Well just done 4 hours with a couple of toilet breaks and beer replens, only just left the surface of the first planet, I had some initial teething problems when i tryed to change the graphics settings, I changed them then restarted the game and it just refused to start, didnt crash just wouldnt even begin to load, so a quick computer restart and we were good.
Well lets start with where the **** did 4 hours go??? I got chucked on a pretty hostile planet, a hot, radioactive, unforgiving hell hole, plenty of Iron, carbon and plutonium so enough to keep my suit in one piece and powered, in my few hours on the planet i set off on foot in search of some zinc, the rest of the materials i needed were close by but its too almost half an hour of searching to find some, after i had all the parts I needed i spent a long time bouncing from point of interest to point of interest, before i knew it i was over 45min walk away from my ship... the walk back was emotional, on my travels i found a wrecked ship, decided to leave it as I had already put so much effort in to find the materials to get my original one running, i was just being stubborn, but hey I went to all that effort, so i'm going to see it through!

Eventually i was reunited with my pile of crap ship, cursing my stubbornness the whole way back, decided to follow the mission and exit the planet, as soon as i broke orbit i tryed shooting, christ another mistake! I accidently shoot some random alien craft, he's not happy... not ******* happy at all, did a runner, headed for the surface again, surely he wont follow? of course he ******* follows, about 5 minutes of dog fighting ensues.
This MOFO took out his first starship!!! so again i break orbit and head for a space station, HOW FAR AWAY??? ah pulse drive... HOLY **** SLOW DOWN!!! thought i was about to warp to the other side of the galaxy! I manged to get it slowed down and docked.
So here i am now, taking a quick break, I initial feeling are very positive, this game is just sucking me in, I know its early days though and i might not be quite as full of praise in a week or so but for now i'm happy with my purchase.

Not felt the need to use the Bonus ship yet, might give it a try after i gain the Hyperdrive blueprints.

Also on performance, laptop here with Intel I7 4810MQ, Nvidia 970m 3gb Vram(I Think), 8GB ram.
Medium settings all round 1080p, ok frame rates, dips below 30 often but not bad enough to bother me, no stuttering or anything though.
Loving the art style of the game.
