No Man's Sky

Just wow, absolutely loving this game. I went on to play for about an hour last night but it ended up at about 3 and a half.

Getting the bedroom decorated next week when my wife is away is going to be a challenge :o

I'm very tempted to pick this up. Been after an exploration game for ages. Can you give a bit of a mini review?

Although there are no set goals, I guess in a way you kind of create your own goals, and just do whatever you fancy. Its certainly ambitious, and I can't wait to get stuck in

I really do fear people will get the wrong idea of this game/experience and will be left really dissapointed

Seems solid, just let go of boost for a few seconds when you hit a new planet to avoid frame drops while it loads in/computes

ps3ud0

I'm just finding it to be a really chilled game. Yes you can rush about trying to get to the centre but I think that misses the point. It certainly instils the whole 'I wonder what's over that hill' mentality in me, hence the hours playtime turning into 3 and a half :D

Im the sort of person who walks around in GTA5 on foot sometimes just taking in the city, stopping at traffic lights, crossing with other NPC's, watching random events happen etc.

I have a feeling this will be the game for me :)

The problem I see is it's aimed to be a very chilled game which is great but for how long, I imagine after a couple/few days it will be very repetitive and the chill will turn to boredom. There's a limit to how many different coloured planets you can go to and scan/mine without having something more interesting to do and no multi-player.

It's why I still think this should not be a full price game it should be a £24.99 or less game, at the end of the day its a polished indie game with a lot of hype.

Yeah a lot of the complaints on reddit seem to be that once you visit a few planets, you realise that actually, they aren't really that different. Just a different colour palette, but the terrain is pretty similar and wildlife isn't too different. One guy on reddit posted a video of the creatures being identical on 3 different planets he visited in a row, just different names.

So I'm worried that in a few days it will get boring, especially as it only seems to be mining for resources then creating tech, rinse and repeat.

Right now that's fine when the novelty is there, but what happens when that wears off?

Only thing putting me off this atm is the forced mining aspect. Is it really a case of having to mine to survive every 15 mins or so? I want the freedom to just explore...
