No Man's Sky

Loving it.

Not really left the first planet yet. its pretty amazing what you can do on just 1 planet, its actually quite involved with regards to the different elements and items you can find and collect.

I can see this being a huge time sink!
Agreed! It took me ages to leave the first planet myself also. Though since then I have been planet hopping about a bit... I did some gold mining on one planet. Eager to see what the universe holds as you get closer to the centre :)

I don't know why so many people have got their expectations so wrong. I've been following the game for a long time, and so far from what I've seen, it's exactly what I expected it to be.

Agreed. I have always seen it as a "play at my own pace, exploration" style game.

Something that I can kick back and relax playing without worrying about specific set goals / loadout / team role etc. Balancing this out is Neverwinter which does require all of that... :p

Rise Of Iron - Destiny expansion

Sorry as mid_gen states ROI is the next Destiny expansion. I have played so much of it that I sometimes forget not everyone will know what ROI stands for.. :o :)

I stayed up until 5 am and i only explored 2 planets and one space station.... Did anyone manage to find all the Records in the starting planet ?

NMS feels like it's a game where player imagination/creativity is the driving force of the individual experience.

Basically if exploring/discovery aren't enough for you to enjoy the game then I would skip it - it wasn't made for you...

ps3ud0

how do you dig down into a planet?

Is it only certain areas of a planet floor that may have underground systems as I tried shooting the floor with the mining tool but nothing happened, guessed I might need a upgrade on my multitool or something.

Yeah from what I've seen you can only get through if it's a mine-able material. Occasionally, there will be some mineral jutting out of the ground that has it's roots quite deep other than that cave entrances are the only way down in my experience.

So, given the chilled out, play at your own pace, cinematic nature of this are we all agreed that PS4 and a large TV is the best way to play (if you don't have a PC attached to a large TV etc)?

I thought so but the low frame rate, pop in and low res textures has me holding out to see what the PC version is like.

It has a lovely art style but that stuff is gonna bug me so will wait and see on Friday.

Not sure if possible but hoping that folks might be able to mod/patch stuff HG haven't, like improving the inventory and reloading your weapon.

If it helps (probably doesn't) but you can click in R3 while walking to run. Though you do have stamina.

You can also, if timed right, 'skate' with your jetpack to move forward even quicker.

Start to run, then melee and jetpack straight away. Use the jetpack in bursts and you kind of shoot forward even quicker. Handy for traversing on foot.

Its cool taking off from a planet and just cruising over the landscape looking for interesting areas.

Some of the creatures you can encounter are so funny, some Ive encountered are huge as well.

And how do you feel about it when you play it?

You need a upgrade for your multitool like grenade.
