No Man's Sky

I'm getting a bit bored of this already. I'm landing, whipping out the binoculars, scanning what I can see, getting what I need for a warp cell then FO to the next system. I've been on about 20 planets and they all feel samey, and I don't seem to have a hope in hell of completing all the fauna/flora on any of them.

Apparently the stars you need hyperdrive upgrades for are better. I haven't been to those yet.

I am pretty much grinding out the center now after the rather anticlimactic Atlas story. Unless something spectacular happens in the center I don't think this game will have much replay value. I might try and get all the trophies too, they're relatively easy but I should get them anyway whilst grinding to the center.

I'm enjoying it quite a lot but mostly because I'm just exploring rather than trying to complete the game. I have heard that the Atlas path is almost intentionally pointless to poke fun at the incessant need for a "way to win" rather than just enjoying the journey.

Started playing the last couple of days. It's certainly different! Fun is the wrong word, but it's enjoyable.

I'm not far in and whilst I chose the Atlas path I'm going off on tangents. Still haven't got to the first space station.

Is there any way to find places already visited? Had a good outpost with a trading module and constant NPCs landing but lost it.

Also what constitutes being minted after a few hours of play? :p I mined and sold a shed tonne of Emeril.

Atlas path waypoint in atlas map vanished?

Patch 1.04.

Have they combined the atlas path into the galactic core path because I only have free explore and centre of galaxy path:confused:

Surely not another bug.

Unfortunately it doesn't appear there is a way to find places you have already been. Things you find on the planet like depot’s, trading stations, way points etc. all have their own icon which is coloured if it is new but becomes greyed out once you have visited it. So it is possible to find those place though it isn’t possible to locate a specific one. When it comes to the galactic map there is no way short of remember the name of the system and having the luck to randomly find it. Obviously this is easier if you’re only planning on going back 1 or maybe 2 systems though I would say it would be impossible if you are trying to go back 5+ systems. If you are wanting to sell a lot things and you find a terminal that you can sell above value I tend to leave my ship there and walk around collecting resources. This works especially well as you can transfer stuff to your ship and carry on collecting resources then go back and sell everything for a tidy amount.

As for minted, that depends on what you currently want to buy. Most of your money seems to go on upgrading your suit at drop pods, these start out at 10k (I think) for the first but increase each time so for me on slot 33 or 34 it cost me 260k. These take time to find though so I am glad I bought a ship with the first couple million I had as it gave me a good increase to my storage capacity quite early on in the game. I am not there yet but apparently later on you find things that are worth a lot more than the Emeril you (and I) have been mining.

Any tips on finding warp reactor upgrades? Really want to get a Tau so I can start visiting the blue and green stars....

Feels a bit like they've tweaked the LODs on PS4 with this patch, may be imagining it but I'm sure you can see further than before.

Do the upgrades go in this order?

Sigma > tau > theta > omega

I know you can 'link' them too but is that the order of what's best individually?

Also what's with the different numbers on things. Is a +3 sigma better than a +1 theta?

Confusing :(

Managed to break the game last night :D. Was mining the biggest gold vein I've found, started off as an egg shaped above ground and just kept on going and going and going. In the end it was about 30s of jet packing deep. Anyway I was at the bottom of the pit mining upwards and all of a sudden I fell into water and I was basically below the planet's game surface, I could just see the atmosphere below and through walls, see trees dotted about above your surface etc. Could swim out but it stayed there even on returns to the mine.

Anyway a couple of hours later and I have a 24-slot ship :D.

I love some of the random species encounters. Bouncing genitals, flying whales, little underwater pig creatures :D

My current planet is bugged. It seemed pretty normal until I found a cave near the trade port. There are vortex cubes literally everywhere. I haven't even got enough room in my fully upgraded suit :p

48 I think?

Last planet was insane. Loads of flora and fauna, very colourful, but intense toxic rain storms. The skys were filled with giant flying snakes and the ground covered in 5 or so different crab-like hyper aggressive ***** ranging from the size of a rat to a small horse.

**** that.
