No Man's Sky

I'm not bored, I still enjoy playing it....but I've found myself turning it on less and less. I've not played it over the weekend, just because although I still enjoy the game, the lack of missions or objectives in it means there's nothing really to make me say "I need to play it and finish that"

I can see me just not playing it at all soon, which is a shame

I had a feeling this would happen with this game, so glad I was away when it launched as I very nearly got carried away with the hype, and if I was home I probably would've caved and bought it.

Will probably pick it up when it's cheap in a steam sale.

The opener lol.

As time goes on I've come to realise that this game is rather overpriced. What makes it worse is the fact Hello Games may release premium DLC.

I got a copy second hand and have enjoyed it so far, it's not an epic space adventure but it's a fairly calm way to while away an hour or two every so often.

Hello Games have said they aren't releasing any paid DLC (but there will be more free content) so hopefully they stick to that because the actual gameplay is pretty light at the moment.

Don't bet on it! He was asked about this in another interview and now said not to rule out the possibility of paid DLC

Would be disappointing if they go that route unless they dish out some pretty beefy free stuff first. Sadly DLC and microtransactions are here to stay, they're very high profit margins compared to making the original game.

I'm finding the game very lacking in any real depth, As a result I will probably be backing off for a while and hopefully return to it once any content comes along as FREE DLC or the missing features get patched in.
As it stands right now this game is a sold 6/10 and worth about £25

Picked the game up again at the weekend and enjoyed it enough as a distraction to my main task of encoding a crap ton of media.

Found one planet which is only 6 seconds away from the station with "uber boost" and is littered with vortex cubes. Farming roughly 400,000 units every 10 minutes or so.

Unfortunately I got bored very quickly and switched it off. I think the main problem for me is a complete lack of depth in anything you do. The menu transitions and the infuriating accomplishment *things* have also been doing my nut in. Interestingly since the most recent patch my performance seems to have taken a metaphorical dump as well (specifically when farming large material veins).

There is a vast amount of potential in the game, but for now all we have is a thin spread of Jam over the worlds largest slice of toast.

Agree with Joe's video.

But I am still yet to venture anywhere (another galaxy) and the mining is very tedious now.
The interface and lack of room does really annoy me! Only if items stacked more instead of taking a slot for one item would make it more worth while.

Also since the two patches its crashed more for me on the ps4.

For me the biggest mistake is that the game is at it's most punishing and grindy at the beginning. You really have to persevere through the start until you get a decent amount of inventory space and can just keep a big stockpile of all the materials you need, get the warp drive upgrades, get a decent ship loadout and multi-tool etc.

The balance is just off, it should be more rewarding at the beginning and get more challenging as you progress....it's the wrong way round though. Punishing to start with and easier when you get into it.

been playing it for a few days now and it seems like its one of those games where you can just play and chill out, no real aim other than exploring about. guess it does get a bit repetitive after a bit, ive managed to find two planets that are full of vortex cube and sac venom so after a good few hours I'm almost at 40mil units, I'm trying to hit 50mil but its starting to get a bit boring as I'm having to roam further to find them now. next plan is a big ship and more exosuit slots, currently at 43.

I'm just upping my ship in stages through finding crashed ships....much cheaper :)

If you find a Gek observatory that locates crashed ships, you can just keep triggering it and it'll keep marking crashed ships on the planet, bugs ftw!

I agree, the beauty of NMS is (IMO) that it is so entirely different to anything else we have on consoles. I don't think NMS is good enough in its own right to be the only game you play however for me coming from COD/Destiny/Overwatch it provides a nice balance and I can see me playing it for some time.

Had some fun with the naming the other day, I meant to grab a screenshot but forget. Entered a system of 5 planets, I named the system the United Federation of Dave and as such every planet, outpost, planet and animal are all also called Dave :D

I left that system and now on a high security planet where the sentinals shoot as soon as they see you. However the planet is covered in gravitino balls and caves full of vortex cubes so building a good inventory and bank for something nice. Currently up to around 20 mill and already have a maxxed suit so I can easily spend it all on a shiney new ship.

Edit: I didn't know that midgen. It was taking so long to find an observatory to find a crashed ship. I didn't know you could do it to keep finding ships. How does that work though? I thought once you activated it you don't get an interact menu if you go back to it.

It's only on Gek observatories, bug I guess. If you see one of the stumpy little guys in the Observatory, then go to town, it lets you re-activate the computer as many times as you want. Got up to 33 slot ship last night doing that.

System I just landed in has two awesome looking ships in the space station, going to have to hunt for beacons this evening to nab myself one.
