No Man's Sky

Epic landing :)

Urgh well unfortunately I think I'm done with this game. Just have no motivation to turn it on now. Not played for nearly a week and last night I had the house to myself, perfect chance to play for a few hours. But didn't :/

It's odd as I didn't stop enjoying it and still would if I turned it on, but that's the trouble, there's nothing making me want to turn it on. No missions I need to finish, no upgrades needed, just more exploring which is fine. But I can put that off for another day, which results in me just not turning it on :(

Shame

This is a rather large thread so forgive me if this has been mentioned or discussed, but does anyone know why, when doing a fairly linear 1600 light-year jump, you only get about 400 light-years closer to the centre?

Bug or just some weird-ass game mechanic?

At this rate I'm gonna need to jump another 360 times to get there :/

They changed it to make the game last longer. It's effectively a complete bodge which means the distance doesn't make sense anymore.

Mehhh !! Ok. Just curious.

Wondering about your other messages though.
Forgetting everything that was said at E3s, or twitters, or interviews or hearsay or previous pre-release "bullshots". Anyone who listens to all this fluff and bravado deserves to be misled in my opinion.

I'm talking about anything on the back of the box or the PSN digital description, or posters in shops that said stuff that isn't true?
Something that was described at the point of purchase that was not actually in the game?

Not looking for an argument, I'm just curious if you're angry about the hype-train or not.

So you're happy for companies to flat out lie about products you pay them for?

Didn't the makers of aliens colonial marines get a lawsuit against them because the game wasn't how it looked in the early trailers?

I don't think anything came of it though..

Oh and I'm not saying you should do this!
I'm still playing and will do until all trophies are got. Won't bother with the centre stuff

They did make it quite clear before release what the game is and what it isn't. Some people just chose to ignore it and get on the drama train.

I think it was the reddit post of all the documented 'lies' that got me. I've not got it, I wasn't invested enough (nor did I believe it would deliver what was promised) so kind of sat back.

It is an interesting read though:

You cannot be serious.

None of the promo material across the years looks anything like the final game, many significant features that Murray himself in interviews confirmed, are not in the game.

Each system is essentially a box with 3 or 4 spheres in without any promised planetary orbits, planet rotation etc. The planets all have the same stuff on so they're dull as possible after seeing the first few. There's next to no variety in terrain, it's all just bumpy hills for as far as the eye can see.

There are no actual NPC's to speak of except for the fixed conversation bots.

There's no fleet battles that Murray promised in interview and that IGN reported on.

There's pretty much no AI for creatures, or any difference in flight models between the ships that once again, Murray and Hello Games promised in interview.

The game is not multiplayer in ANY form, despite Murray stating in several interviews that it was a shared universe. And being "truly" mmo style wasn't the point. The fact is that the world as a single player game without ANY chance of meeting anyone has a totally different feel that they purposely falsely marketed to drive up sales.

We were told that these features were present, so the only answer is that they were removed before launch or never existed in the first place. Both of which are pathetic scenarios.

In fact I can only assume the review sites were paid off by Sony to lie in their "lets play" streams etc, as otherwise this would have come out long before release.

The silence from Hello Games is disgusting behaviour towards consumers paying £40 for what is effectively an early access game.

Anyone defending this situation is a mug.

So there are no NPCs...except for the NPCs. NPCs are in there.

I've engaged in multiple battles with 30+ ships. Fleet battles are in there.

There is a AI for creatures, some are solitary, some are in herds, some are grazers, some are predators. Predators hunt and attack prey animals. It's in there.

You keep raging though, I'm sure it'll achieve something other than boring the pants off anyone that actually wants to talk about playing the game. Maybe.
