Thing is, why would AIB's charge £550 (or less) for a faster, quieter and cooler card?? Nvidia have simply given them permission to charge the same or more as the FE!! It's crazy! Unless Nvidia don't want to sell ANY of the FE cards, there is no reason they would want AIB's to charge less unless they are selling an inferior card. If that was the case, the ONLY people who'll buy the FE are those desperate to buy the card in the first week, or anyone going SLI (for which it is the best choice). I fully expect the AIB cards (the good ones anyway) to be as expensive or more than the FE. :(

Absolutely, yet for some reason the apologists and fan boys don't look at the 1080's market position as a mid-range card just like the 980 was. Instead they quote prices from 10 years ago where a top range card was the equivalent price of circa £600 (adjusting for inflation). REALLY not the point!!
 
Hmmmm, was weighing up buying this but £700 notes and the wife will have me committed.
That said I need the Founders Edition to maintain the look of my build. My 770 is beginning to show it's age now and I have money burning in my pocket.

Historically whats been time period for NVidia to release a Ti Version? And also does anyone see any problems I may be faced with my current build in handling this thing?
 
If I buy a Zotac branded 1080 is it likely to have the same resale value as say an Asus or EVGA one? The reason I ask is usually Zotac have an extended warranty and are usually a fraction cheaper..

quite happy with my PG279Q and 980ti. Runs everything perfectly.

Fair point, I suppose I didn't think about that, with them marketing the FE as something other than just a reference card, maybe the AIB's won't be cheaper.

And the funny thing is, they are all the same at FE level. I would say resale down the line would not matter, GPUs are always a massive loss (just not one of those ugly Zotac ones :p)

Posts like this make me laugh. Not even bought one yet and worrying about resale value.

Just shows you the state of the GPU market at the moment Nvidia has you eating out of their hands !

Not even that, they're all the same bloody card shipped from foxconn (or whoever makes their reference cards), only difference is a box and sticker. =/

From what I've read on various forums etc everyone's pointing towards Q1 2017, how true that is I dont know but I'd say it sounds about right.

At that point I will either sell up on my 1080 and upgrade or buy another 1080 for SLI.

I'm glad I made you laugh, but I was just wondering how Zotac's hold up image wise. Besides its more than likely I will SLI later and keep them for years.
