No Stubble at work.

Every Sunday I'm a Remington Barber number 2 man

I'm not customer facing that often otherwise I'd ensure I was suited and booted for those occasions

Had this at a place I used to work, the rules were basically:

Have a beard/tache or don't. Grow it in your own time, not while in work.

Used to have the same basic rule at woolies. Fortunately I had a manager who was a big hairy biker and actively encouraged staff (apart from some of the women) to grow beards. Thanks to his guidance I've been sporting a kerry king most of my adult life.....

And the missus hates it :(

When I used to work at Morrison's 11 years ago, the same rules were enforced and were in general adhered to.

You are employed by Morrisons and in accepting their employment, you should accept and abide by their rules. If you do not wish to do so, I am sure that there are others who would be willing to.

While freedom of expression is an important right to have, many people abuse it. This is one such example. You have no reason to expect your employer to tolerate what some would consider to be an unconventional appearance, which is at odds with the image they want to project.

If you don't like it.... find another job.

Having facial hair is not an 'unconventional appearance' what an absolutely ludicrous statement.

I view this kind of thing as pettiness at best and outright discrimination at worst.

I also work at Morrisons as a manager and yes it is policy, yes it is about portraying a good company image and yes I shave daily. Its barely a hardship is it? So why moan about it? Are you really that worried about loosing those 5 minutes on the days you work?

Say that you get really bad skin irritation from shaving, worked for someone at my store then he only had to shave once every three days.

eaisest way is to just have a quick 5 min shave after you have clocked in at work, im sure the managers wouldnt mind you taking 5 mins on the days you work....

Not all facial hair is equal. They dont have a problem with beards or the stash, just with stubble from the sounds of it. Stubble occurs after not shaving for a bit, which some believe to be a sign of laziness and being unkempt etc. Its an old fashioned ideal I guess, but he didnt have to agree to the rules if he didnt like them. Assuming he even read them, which i doubt :o

I used to work at Morrisons back in the day, bad memories, they were known for doing this and one time they actually sent one lad home to have a shave.

Beard trimmers all the way, I get shocking shaving rash and I think it generally looks a little better to have a shadow. :p

Why do people keep coming out with this nonsense. It has nothing to do with hygiene. You have hair everywhere, your allowed a full beard. It is in no way a huge one issue. It is purly a looks issue.
He's also a shelf stacker, no hair nets required.

I wasn't talking about his job specifically. It is just a better practice to remove all possible problems across the board. I work in food production and even in a low care environment (When everything is sealed and packed). People have to wear hair nets or a snood if they are not clean shaved.

Tell them you recently committed an horrific sexual assault and need to grow a beard to change your appearance to elude capture. That should sort it out fairly quickly, one way or another.

I love it! Grow it in your own time  as if he planted his facial hair by choice. Whatever next? Telling women they have to have their period in their own time...

Just quit dude, your life is worth so much more.

I've had stubble for last 5 years, can't stand being clean shaven irritates my skin and makes me look silly young.

My line manager isn't a fan, but he's ex raf and they always frown upon it apparently.

I used to work in a business with a food factory and in roles where you handled food it was either clean shaven or wear one of these:

I agree it does seem a bit excessive for handling prepackaged food (surely by that token people on checkout would have to be clean shaven? There's a dude in our local sainsburies who looks like he's in Grandaddy) but it's not totally unusual to your workplace.

I don't think freedom of expression is gonna wash btw.
I'd wear the stupid facemask for lols.

:D
Beard snoods are awful. Glad I got out of food.

The policy where i work is you can have beards/stubble, aslong as you 'shape' it... so you just have to shave around the edges to make it look like you've made a good attempt at looking professional.

Had this in my last work place, employee's had a choice. Clean shaven or beard with snood or the door. It really was that simple. I can't remember how many people I have turned away for a shift because of not being clean shaven. Hell I've turned people away for not having clean shoes, badges, hats etc.

It's in the companies dress code, you signed your contract agreeing to abide by it. If you don't abide by it, accept the consequences. There not braking your human rights asking you to be presentable.
