North Korea

Maybe all the strong rhetoric from KJU is because he's bored, ronery and no one will take him seriousreeeeeeeeeee.....

Should just have Trump and KJU in a celebrity death match TBH, no need for war. :)

They were actively supporting multiple AQ cells in Syria such as the Al Nursa front until the media called them out on it and they refocused on just supporting "Moderate" extremists, hence why they lost because the aren't enough moderate ones to stand up to either ISIS or the Syrian loyalists.

"Moderate extremist" is about as Orwellian as descriptions come anyway there's nothing really moderate about being an extremist, a moderate extremist is still an extremist. I'd love to know what criteria was used for pigeonholing them. It still makes me laugh thinking back to the footage of so called 'moderates' firing bazookas whilst screaming Alahu Akbar and sounding like complete lunatics.

Don't forget hacking up Christian and Jewish civilians, disemboweling captured soldiers alive, etc right "moderate" lot they are XD

It really is getting beyond a joke. Putin my be laughing his arse off.

Honestly these two should just meet on Grindr and get their manlove they so desperately crave from each other. All this willy waving missile testing is such a load of toss. Wake me up when a grown up steps in and takes their toys away.

Wait, some people actually believe that North Korea's dodgy missiles (that they have yet be able to fit a nuke to) might start a button pressing contest or that the politicians and generals on the US side will just let Trump do what he wants?

Dodgy? the last two intermediate range tests were largely successful in as far as they went - they've recently perfected large calibre, long range, artillery rockets (which is possibly why the change in approach from KJU recently) - granted that is a much less complex challenge than ballistic missiles but shows general progress.

Sure they don't appear yet to have miniaturised a nuclear warhead let alone the challenges of a delivery vehicle, let alone a delivery system that couldn't be reliably intercepted by Western ABM systems but it would be unwise to underestimate their progress either. Their most recent nuclear test was likely approx 178kt +/- roughly 11kt which is fairly significant progress.

How many missiles have been fired over Japan now? Was they intercepted? What about the next time they fire one but this it had a warhead? But everyone thinks it's just an other test.

I seen news and twitter posts by North Korean and Weapon experts showing and talking about a miniaturised nuclear device. It's still debated if the weapon that was shown and that Rocketman was looking at was just a model or a real device, I suspect half-truths in that.

Problem is that North Korea has done so many testes now, they have the advantage in a first strike because we and the military just treat it as the normal behaviour from them.

That is quite an issue - if you wait to see where the missile is headed, etc. it might be too late to try to intercept it by the time you realise it wasn't just another test.

Now you said that, it made me think about it a little more. The last missile they shot over Japan reached over 500 miles high. Since the Military is able to track these missiles, they can detect it's trajectory and it's landing point, I didn't think about that before.

But I think that would only leave a small window for them to shoot it down and they would need to station more of them anti-missile systems around Japan, especially the north.

I read a report by some retired US Admiral saying that the best way to deal with North Korea would be a navel blockade which would also include a no fly zone. Position some of them lovely AEGIS destroyers between Korea and Japan and shoot down anything that flies over.

It's semi-aggressive, but North Korea wouldn't be able to do anything about it, it worked for Cuba.
